Surrounded by the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and lots and lots of family, is where my journey would begin. I was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a small city located in the Shenandoah Valley but only the first 3 years of my life. This was just the beginning of many places and faces that I would meet in my 18 years of life.
I was little and only knew that being with my mom and dad was the most important thing to me, so our first move to Commerce Township, Michigan was kind of a blur. I started Kindergarten there and still today visit with family friends that we met there. I remember living in a small golf course community, experiencing my first blizzard and being scared of tornados. We lived in Michigan for three years but moving from there didn’t impact my life like the future moves in my life would.
Living in Superior, Colorado was one of the best experiences of my life. We had an amazing view of the mountains from our house and we went skiing all the time. The mountains were rigid but majestic; different from what I knew from Virginia. The weather was dry most of the time, but the snow fall was amazing at times; one December we got three feet of snow in three days. I learned how to play football there and met some of the best coaches I would ever have. Not just the best coaches but some of the best friends I have ever met. We lived in Colorado for almost 6 years so a good bit of my growing up happened in this state. I was devastated to have to move again from, in my mind, one of the most perfect places on Earth.
Louisville, Kentucky is now where my family would land. The home of horses and blue grass but as an 11 year old boy, all I thought it would be is the home of hillbillies. I was not excited about moving from a place that I loved, to a strange place again. This was just another part of my journey in life; being in a new place and making new friends; rebuilding my life in another state. It was exciting but
