I like to apologize in advance for making this too long. I usual don't like making people read a long report on Mondays.
The West Gates have been a popular conversational topic around the water cooler. Its lines have been undoubtedly long. Sadly, though, when I timed the lines I did not get to experience the infamously 20minute long line. I only got up to 14minutes max, around 12:45 pm and 1:15 pm. My original theory was that it could be due to Occidentals attractive goods like food trucks and shops. That made sense to me, but I had never really saw the West Gates in actions, so yesterday I got to see what the talk was all about. The first observation I made right off the bat was it's small. West Gate, honestly, is not that great of …show more content…
It's too confined. It's really close to the ticket sales window and it's next to a concrete wall. The SW Gate looks similar, but (if I can remember right, don't quote me on this) it lines have a split like the North Gates. Maybe the West Gate could do something like that have one line facing the street and another line facing the Pro Shop, and have the two lines merge into the bag check area (like the North Gate). This is just one suggestion I've come up with. I got a few other ideas. One of my favorite ideas is to widen the area. The Railings are too close to the bag check tables, causing people to crowd the area between the bag check tables and the front of the lines. Right away, when I saw a group of people just standing there waiting in line for their bags to be checked, I knew that's probably what's causing the long line time. Maybe if we widen the railing, allowing the bag check stands to have more space between the rails and other stands, it could allow people to go around other people if they don't have bags, rather then getting stuck behind a clump of people with bags being checked. Plus the StaffPro staff that's supposed to direct the guest with no bags towards the ticket scanners, are just in the way. …show more content…
If the area was widened, then even if StaffPro workers stood next to the rail, it still has an open passage for people to get the hint and go forward rather than waiting behind someone who's complaining about the bag policy (which happens every game). Another thought, have we try to eliminate some of the lines? The West Gate has six lines, six scanners, and six(ish) bag checkers. The only problem is, it has three openings between the bag checkers tables. The opening between the two tales is wide, and I can see how it was ideally meant for people with no bags to pass through, but that only works if everyone got in the middle line with no bag. Maybe rather than having six lines we could cut down to four. We would then have to distribute some of the StaffPro around to other areas, or have them patrol the streets with some of the Greeters. Either way, it could reduce the crowding between the bag checkers and the front of the line. I personally don't like that this Gate had the checker tables in a V shape. It doesn't make sense to me why
