Concussions are extremely serious and have affected my ability to be in school for the majority of 8th, 9th, and 10th grade. Even today my concussions still have numerous effects on my life. A Silver Award has many requirements including completing 50 hours of sustainable community service and presenting your project in front of a large group of people. For my Silver Award, I decided to direct a middle school very first student-run show. I paired up with two other students and chose the play Anne of Green Gables. This was an enormous risk because none of us students had ever directed anything, didn't have much experience with finance, public speaking, and time management skills. We were also worried about the play itself because Anne of Green Gables is an older novel and not many of the students were familiar with this piece of literature. My previous concussions also served as a huge risk because I needed to be in school to be able to help direct the practices. Quickly, I learned that to make the students and the performance as successful as I could, I would have to push through the concussions with the best of my ability.
