What Are The Arguments Against Children Playing Football
In our current society, there is a certain belief against children playing football. The belief is that there is no reason why children should be playing this sport, specifically with the research about how it can lead to different types of injuries. Even though this is a valid view, this is a view that I am against for a few different reasons. One of these reasons is because children can still learn lessons from playing sports like football that cannot be taught anywhere else. I am also against this belief because there is better equipment being created to make these sports safer. Lastly, I am against this belief because of how different leagues are finding ways to make these sports safer in ways that do not dramatically change the game.

After reading Scott Fujita’s “Would I Let My Son Play Football,” I would allow my son to play football. Fujita says, “ Here I am questioning whether children should be playing at all, and I’m basically selling the game to children watching at home.”(Fujita, 4) Here, Fujita is contradicting himself, and it shows that even a former professional football player can’t hate the game, despite the harm that comes with it. Fujita also states “.... most parents with young children who played football were most interested in my workout regimen and what supplements I was taking (Fujita, 2).” According to Fujita, football has given him the chance to be stronger, in a physical manner. After seeing how fit football players are able to be, it attracts me…

Parents protect their children from drugs and dangerous situations for eighteen yeas only to realize that they should have protected them from their own good judgement. It has been known for over two decades that continuous blows to the head during physical performance in sports, places athletes at a high risk of permanent brain damage. Everyone who wrote in knew the dangers of football, and agreed that it was in fact a very dangerous game. They also agreed that taking tackling out would be an awful idea; their reasoning was that if they took out the tackling then later on it will only hinder any of their possible football related careers. Every person who wrote in weighed in on the importance of having a properly educated and trained coach who will teach proper technique to all of his players. At every level of football, there are inherent dangers that come with playing the game. These dangers are understood and assumed by all participants, and though the game is more safe than it has ever been, there are still risks that are ever present during a football game. When I played football I understood those risks, and the danger of the game is one of the reasons why I waited until 8th grade to start playing. While I was able to avoid any serious injuries over my five year career, the thought of possible injury caused many of my friends to decide that playing football was not worth the risks. Now while high school football in Connecticut is much different than the level of football that Chris Boreland was playing at, his thinking was…

Football is under attack these days because people think it’s too dangerous and parents are starting to not let their kids play at a young age. To me if you don’t start them young they won’t be ready when they get older and they won’t know anything about it. Another reason is because if you start them off young you can figure out if they like the sport or not because you shouldn’t force them to play it should be their choice. One final reason is because if you start them off young they will get better and stronger by the time they get to middle school and high school and they would play a lot better than they would have if their first time playing was in high school. I believe that parents should start their kids off playing football at a young age.…
