Paul. Before going, I had just finished reading the Ethics and Public Speaking chapter for public speaking class. Personally, I can't think of a better way to witness ethical speaking. Senator Sanders obtains the skills we have learned about in chapter one, such as speaking clearly and slowly, using hand gestures, making eye contact, and knowing who your audience is. I believe Senator Sanders was a great public speaker, and had a powerful connection that you could physically feel because of the way he used ethical speaking. The five guidelines learned in chapter 2 were used in his speech. Senator Sanders had ethical goals, in my opinion, that related to his audience and real life issues in America. He was fully prepared to speak, and his confidence shined through his powerful words, which made the audience cheer and clap after every idea he shared. The third guideline, honestly, is what we all, as American citizens, uphold our government to be. Honestly and Government need to be hand-in-hand. The fourth guideline to avoid name calling was also followed by Senator Sanders. He expressed how important it is that we are all Americans, and it doesn't matter what color your skin is, where you were born, or when you became a citizen.
