Unfortunately, today David is not known very well but, he was very important to his family. Other than the fact that he journaled his life, He was not very critical and this is why the majority of people do not know who David is. The Germans detested David, and the only reason was that he was a Jew. Grievously, David only lived to be fifteen, so he did not have a field of specialty. However, when David was alive he felt the responsibility to protect his family.…
Basically David betrayed the lord he sinned with adultery. He had a man killed to take his wife and conceive a son. David did not fight his own war either instead stayed in jerusalem where he was safe and sound. He could have had any woman but instead he went to someone who was already marred which is a no no witht the Lord. David then was confronted by Nathan. The Lord was very angry he cursed him told him all his wives will sleep with other men in daylight not in secret. Also, that his future child, would die. He begged and pleaded with the Lord but the lord had already gave the word.…
1 Samuel 31, 2 Samuel 1-10 – First Samuel ends with Saul’s death. Rather than facing the torment of the Philistines, he falls on his own sword, but the first chapter of 2 Samuel gives a different account. An Amalekite reports to David that he killed Saul after Saul asked him to run him through with the sword. Either way, Saul is now dead, and David is made king of Judah, while Ishbaal (Saul’s son) supposedly reigns over the rest of Israel. Abner supports Ishbaal at first, but after having been accused of sleeping with one of Saul’s concubines, Abner turns to support David. Before he can do anything to help David’s conquest, Abner is killed by Joab (commander of David’s forces) for killing Joab’s brother Asahel. Ishbaal is also assassinated by Rechab and Baanah, who are apparently motivated by the thought of reward from David for their service, but they are killed by David as a result. With no other leader to turn to, the rest of Israel accepts David as their king at Hebron. After that, David enjoys much military success against the enemies of Israel (Philistines, Moabites, Edomites,…
When he was young, he dared to fight his enemies without armors. At the same time, throughout the two books of Samuel, there are lots records of David’s victories, indicating his talent for military matters. Besides, David, the son of Jesse, as the chosen servant of the God, remains absolute obedience to the God without any hesitations. In the beginning, Saul was jealous of the growing force of David, and tried to kill him for several times. His sincere obedience to the God saved himself from threatening of Saul, who wants to maintain his kingship to himself and his children. At the end of the first book, because…
Saul went in search of David in the Wilderness of En Gedi. He accidently stumbled upon the cave where David and his men were hiding. David restrained himself and his men from killing Saul. (1 Samuel 24)…
Malcolm Gladwell recounts the biblical story of David and Goliath in order to provide a solid foundation for the rest of the novel. The seedling of an underdog being able to defeat a goliath is planted into the reader’s head, and the seedling continues to develop as Gladwell adds more stories. Also, it begins to convince the reader to think outside of the box, “It never occurred to him (Goliath) that the battle would be fought on anything other than those terms, and he prepared accordingly” (7), because David used a tactic that Goliath was not prepared for, he triumphed. This theme continues throughout the stories as people use unconventional strategies to achieve what they desire. For example, Gary Cohn obtains a stockbroker job by jumping into a cab and lying. Another theme is coming out on top, despite shortcomings that the champion might have.…
Biblical accounts states David is not involved in the deaths of Abner (2 Sam 3:6-39), or Ishbaal (2 Sam 4:1-12) from which he benefits. This has led to the conspirator's to believe that David was behind them. In 2 Samuel 11 of the bible David is charged with the adultery with Bathsheba who bore a child upon the engagement. Following the pregnancy to cover up his crime David conspired a plot that eventually leads to the death of Bathsheba's husband Uriah. Uriah was placed at the lead of a battle and…
David joined forces with the Philistines because he had an interest of the people at heart while he acted as a bodyguard for the Philistine king (Tullock and McEntire, 2006). David's decision to move to Philistia was due to him believing that he would be destroyed by the hand of Saul if he did not escape the land of the Philistines. He felt that Saul was truthful with his offer of reconciliation. David and his 600 men army and their families, crossed over to King Achish in Gath. He wanted Achish to give him one of his countries.…

Many Christians have a very vague idea about the collection of the Old- Testament. The Old-Testament books are stories of the most famous myths. II. The Old Testament is the beginning of God calling us to a right relationship with Him. God sent many people on tasks that seemed impossible, and they would be without the power of God behind them. God from the beginning calls us into serving His purpose, which in turn was always the best thing for His creation. Adam. Eve and Moses and David all answered God's call. God expects all of his creation to fulfill their mission.…
He honestly, conveys to the Lord that he is a man of vulnerability and that the only way he can be restored is through the love of God's grace. An interesting exchange occurs within the beginning of the Psalm, which includes David's appeal to the Lord. David request that the Lord not punish him in anger and to have empathy toward him, leaving the reader to believe that David has somehow sinned…
1st Samuel is named after the person in history that God used to establish a monarchy in Israel. Samuel anointed both Saul and David, Israel’s first two kings, and he also gave individual account on the new way God was beginning to rule over the Israelites. As seem in this source Samuel spent his life, similar to the life of Moses, as a representative of sorts between God and the Hebrews. Samuel continually provided witness accounts of the transitions which Israel went through. Transitions described in the first book of Samuel such as the transition from being ruled by judges to that of a ruling monarchy.…
The first 39 books of the larger work called the Bible, is called the Old Testament. The Bible itself is arguably the best selling and most read book of all time, yet it’s well known to be quite challenging to read through and understand. The Old Testament portion of the Bible, notably the most difficult portion of the Bible for most to study and follow, yields 39 books from multiple authors, and spans over 4000 years of crucial world and church history. If that were not enough to take on, the Old Testament comes our way through multiple styles of authorship and formats, including but not limited to, books of history, law, proverbs, ethics, philosophy, treatises, dramas, songs, epics, biographies, and letters. There have been many books written and published to survey, explain, and/or bring to light the Old Testament, but none more helpful to me than the review subject of this paper, the work of Dr. Elmer L. Towns, entitled “A Journey Through the Old Testament”.…
