Satire is important because it sheds a humorous light on an important issue that is facing society. Take for example, the amount of people in America who are obese because they have no self control. Compared to the countries in Africa where there are children who are starving and dying daily. Yet when people are asked to donate at least $0.50, they pass. This shows that they care, but only to a point. Well we could always do a wife swap. But instead of swapping wives we swap the obese and starving people living among us. Since our society praises people who are “fit”. Those that are obese, can hunt for their food in Africa. While the starving people, work for food. Until they are obese, then we just swap them back. Using this method solves everyone's dream in America to stop world hunger and also keeps the economy running. Also in our society, the use of satire is important, because issues facing our country are often overlooked by people who are not knowledgeable about political issues. Or at times, they simply do not care. With the comedic use of satire, not only does it make people laugh at political issues, but it also makes the question what is going on around them. One example would be The Daily Show. The Daily Show, regardless of who is hosting it, always talks about political world issues. Since it is comedic, the show is popular amongst the younger generation. By getting young people involved in politics early, they could hopeful fix problems facing the nation. The use of satire, that I have learned in your class once again, worked outside of you class. In my speaking class I had to give a serious speech about accidental death and injuries because no one is safe. But, because I felt that it was too serious, I decised to use satire to lighten the mood. Not only were people entertained by satire, but they are also now informed about a serious issues. An issue that kills, more people, than we
