What Is Psalm 13
I picked Psalm 13 for many reasons, mostly because i could connect to it in many ways. Growing up my Dad would always say, "when your in a time of need you can always turn to God, he will always be there ready to help". He would not just tell me this because it was an easy way out of answering most of those difficult questions i had for him as a parent but to show me to build a relationship with God myself. The meaning and symbolism of this Psalm is what really caught my eye .
Psalm 13 is titled “Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies” and even though most problems in life are not as dramatic like described in Psalm 13 although at the time of the event it may seem as bad but it only seems that way. Some great examples I was able to come up with

One central idea of Mitali Perkins's novel, Bamboo People, is don't judge a book, or in his case a boy, by its cover. The author uses characterization of Chiko to illustrate the central idea. Chiko was never the athletic kind, he passed the time by burying his nose in a book. However, when the wellbeing of those he cared for most was put in danger, Chiko proved everyone wrong.…

Generally considered to be one of the most notable of the sacred hymns contained within the book of Psalms, Psalm 139 is perhaps one of the most sublime declarations of the omnipresence of God found in the Bible. Attested to David, Psalm 139 is classified as an “Individual Hymn of Thanksgiving” 1 a genre in which God is praised for the singers’ delivery from oppression and various life-threatening illnesses while also acting as a “Wisdom” psalm, celebrating the creative goodness of God. While the actual date of the text remains unclear as it is notoriously difficult to determine a date and historical context for every psalm, most scholars agree that the hymn was written during the time of King David’s reign, there is however, some dispute among…

“Lord please save my sister’s life. Please keep her safe even in the midst of her drunkenness and drugs. Jesus please keep her alive long enough to come to you for salvation.” I have been praying this for over 30 years and still I believe for her salvation. I am comforted by the knowledge that He hears my cries and has kept her alive thus far. In fact, last week she approached me about going to church again (she hasn’t gone since she was in middle school)!…

Psalm 23 and The Sermon on the Mount are both so similar and different messages about God. Psalm 23 and The Sermon on the Mount both talk about all the good things God can do to all of the of the people who are nice and fair around the world. Both the psalm and the sermon, mention how everyone will always have something good and how we should never fear anything because God will always be accompanying us in our good and bad moments. However, the main difference is how they are being narrated. Psalm 23 gives the impression that it is a prayer, while the Sermon on the Mount is a speech being given to a group of people.…

The poem I have chosen is “The Road Not Taken,” written by Robert Frost. The reason I chose this poem is because I believe this poem has stood out from the others. While reading the poem, the lyrics drew my attention. It made me realize that this poem is real, an everyday thing. “ The Road Not Taken,” is about a person and how the choice they have made has affected their life. Choices affect you and all your other decisions that you may face later on in life. This made me feel like everything has a purpose. You set your own choices and you decide where the path will take you. I chose “The Road Not Taken,” because it is truly based on human life. Every human has come to a place where they have more than one choice and they don’t know what…

I chose Psalm 51:1-3 because I feel it relates to my life greatly. These three verses from Psalm 51 relate to my life because I know my wrongdoings, and I know it is the right thing to do to ask the Lord to forgive me and cleanse me from my sins. These three verses from Psalm 51 also relate to my life because I have sinned multiple times, and I have asked the Lord to forgive me many times. When I read these verses from Psalm 51, they made me think deeply about the times where I have sinned and I did not ask the Lord for forgiveness. When I ask the Lord to forgive me of…

The song I chose talks about bearing witness after acknowledging the burden which is weakness. The entire song incorporates bearing witness, which simply means sharing experiences with others. The lyrics in the song “he’ll carry us when we can’t carry on, raised in his power the weak become strong” ( Caldwell 1) these lyrics are about communicating with others what Christ will do when someone is weak and needs strength. The song mentions several occasions of experiences of needing strength and how christ brings them strength, to bear…
