Racial profiling can be described as having any person with government authority, pull another person aside because they feel unsafe because of the person race or religion or any other features. Racial profiling happens all over the us, and is a heavily debated topic. Some people of authority say that it is indeed necessary to use racial profiling in order to distinguish if a person is bad or not. Other people would say that it is very racist and should not be used by anyone. Whether people like it or not, racial profiling is not usually used on a person with white skin, but on people of African-American descent. Because people such as African-Americans are becoming the target of police forces, the police tend to treat their little mistakes as worse than a white person's mistakes. For example, say a black man and a white man are speeding down the road, the police would most likely go after the black man rather than the white man because of the stereotype that those people are worse than white opole. That Is not okay because then it shows in statistics that more people of one race are stopped for crimes than another, but in reality it's just because they have targets on their backs and are being pulled over more frequently than others so the white people are really just getting away with more crimes. Policemen are using the excuse that people of different races are more dangerous, so they are then being allowed to be discriminatory towards other people. Although, with all the protests against racial profiling, some states have taken a stand to stop it. According to Leslie Papp and John Duncanson, Toronto Star, states in the us have made it mandatory that police record ethnicity of all people they stop. This is to hopefully stop racial profiling because it helps people get a better look at who is being stopped for false
