The death penalty is the banishment of criminals who have executed one or more citizens on purpose (usually through injection). The death penalty may be decided depending on the outcome of the crime; though, it may be put in for treason. There are many pros and cons of the death penalty and many people get into heavy debates over it. First, the pros will be revealed. The crimes of murder, rape, kidnapping, torture, etc. are all debatable for the death penalty, such as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (the bomber of the Boston marathon). The majority of Boston favored that he was set to the death penalty. This was a reasonable decision because of all of the damages that Tsarnaev was responsible for. does not allow bombers to live free in America because of the tragic memory of September, 11th, 2001. Other people may disagree though, this is because they would rather him spend his life in prison or they don’t agree with death no matter the crime. The major reason that comes to mind for the death penalty is to kill criminals to prevent more wrong doings from them. The death penalty not only gets rid of horrible criminals, though, it also cuts down taxes for financial tax payers rather than paying for criminals to stay in prison. Seven out of ten people agree with the death penalty and the cons are irrelevant to most people but we shall reveal them. The cons of the death penalty can be defined by wrongful execution because it is killing a human being with no agreement. This connects with human rights violation which are the basic rights given to a human to live life respectfully. Many people say that innocent people should not be executed and that they should stay in prison or that it is a form of revenge, but most states are the judge of the outcome of the criminal’s life. Some say that the criminals are going thru hard times in their life when they commit the crime and they should not be executed. These people are called tree huggers. Many innocent people are being killed by shooters and a high percentage of them are young children attending schools that have a future to follow. Adam Lanza, a 20 year old suspect of a shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school, fatally shot 20 children with no reason. One or many of those children could’ve made the next huge impact in history, yet, citizens still complain that the death penalty should be banished in every state. Many people would argue against the death penalty until it were to affect their own family such as a child, sibling, or parent. In overall statistics, the death penalty is a fair punishment. The pros outweigh the cons and seventy percent of people agree with injections. The death penalty should not be torture but it is fair for a quick death because killing twenty people should not go unpunished. These statistics should be taken to consideration by tree huggers. Since 1976, there has been over 1,400 executions and 76% of all execution suspects where white ethnicity.
There is no racism in the death penalty and the statistics reinforce that out of all of the races being executed, most have been white. Therefore, the argument of racial death sentences may be invalid in most situations. Lethal injections are the most popular type of death sentence. The lethal injection is three injections, first being an anesthetic followed by pancuronium bromide used for paralyzing the suspect, and lastly comes potassium chloride to stop the heart. The lethal injection is a quick death and is not messy to clean up. This type of death sentence should be the only legal death sentence because the other four execution methods are somewhat violent and brutal. The second most popular execution method is electrocution, involving an electrocuting chair. There has only been 158 of this type of execution since 1976. Only eight states allow this method because it is a painful death and is not so quick. The suspect is strapped onto a wooden chair and is electrocuted with 3000-6000 volts of electricity starting from their arms and legs and shooting thru his/her body until the inmates body is conceived by a slow and terrifyingly painful …show more content…
death. The third most popular execution is a horrifying way to end someone’s life. This method is the gas chamber. The gas chamber is a closed room that the inmate is put into and the room gets filled with asphyxiant, a poisoned gas that nothing can breathe thru. Only 11 of these types of executions have happened since 1976 and only 5 states agree to this method of death penalty. But this one isn’t bad compared to the other two. This next one should not be allowed in any circumstance such as the gas chamber should not be. This execution style is hanging. Only three people have been hanged in a death penalty since 1976 but that number should be zero. Hanging is tying someone’s neck to a rope and tying their hands and feet together. You then have them to step on a chair or an elevated object. Once they are on the object you remove the object from their feet very quickly and the weight of their own body will break their neck and they will not be able to breathe. This is a slow and brutal death. This should not be allowed in any state. The last one is not so bad, it is a quick death and is not close to torture. This style is the firing squad. A firing squad is putting someone in a chair and having a line of 5+ anonymous shooters aiming at the person in the chair, on the count of three, the shooters all fire at the person in the chair at the same time and the person should die instantly. This is not near as bad as the other ways of the death penalty because the other styles may be applied as torture. This and the lethal injection are the only reasonable ways that the death penalty should be served. No matter the punishment, the criminal will still be served respect before his/her death.
The anonymous executioners will ask what the criminal wants for their last meal and they will serve the criminals whatever they desire. They take to admiration that death is a serious thing and want to treat them comfortably before they end the criminal’s life. The death penalty is not a sign of disrespect, it is a punishment or a style of revenge. The law of the state does not wish for torture or illegal execution but it’s what one must do to protect others from a criminal. Some say you can kill the person but you can’t kill the idea. This is true but to get rid of someone crazy enough to put their idea to life is a big difference rather than to let them live. To put them out of this world may cause the savings of tens, hundreds, thousands of lives and some of those lives may be very important to you. One may never know the importance of the death penalty but it is best that no one ever knows personally the difference that it can make. The execution is a good method to keep families safe. This method should not be stopped because people that may make a huge impact in the world later on in life could be killed if we don’t get rid of these criminals. Every life
matters.
