Eden is a perfect world created to save humanity after they had destroyed Earth. Due to the Earth being destroyed, it is impossible to get more resources and there are rules about these resources. One message that can be found is that love is strong and is different with every set of people. Rowen loves both Lachlan and Lark she doesn’t know who to choose and she begins to say that it is okay. Rowen met Lachlan when she was running and she knows little about him yet feels a personal connection. However, she has heard stories about Lark her whole life and feels like they have known each other forever. She begins to believe that because she was locked away her whole life, what was the harm in loving two people? As the book continued she began to understand why she couldn’t have them both and she would have to make a choice. This was a symbol of love because even if she says she loves them both she knows that she loves one more than the other. She also knows she will have to choose even if it is hard to decide. Another important message that can be taken from this story is that you can survive as long as you try and keep your heart in it. Rowen has to literally survive because her whole existence is forbidden. However, she has to survive in her mind as well. She has to fight all of her doubts and power through them.
