A past experience in my life were I’ve been upset or stressed was when I moved away from my old house, to come and live in Niagara Falls because I grew up in my old house and I refused to change schools, meet new people, etc. Then once I moved I realized to think about the positive things that may happen, and one of my coping strategies I used, to help me get use to the change was relaxation. It helped me understand that life goes on no matter how hard it might be you just have to learn to accept it.

All my coping strategies are very special to me, because they help me relief stress or situations that include trauma. My coping strategies include writing poems, listening to music, volleyball, sleep, art, friends and family, relaxation, eating

If you are missing one of the six I think it affects the other areas of health. I see this with my son who has anxiety and panic attacks, when he has an attack then he is more likely to get sick like with a cold and then it takes him forever to feel his old self again, he says he is never really good. I know for me being spiritual healthy makes it easier for me to be emotionally healthy. I have to be happy and feel good about me with is hard but I am learning it is ok not to be perfect as long as you are happy with your body, mind and soul. I know that I feel all around better when I can work out in some way whether it be working out, working in the garden or taking a walk. It is important to take care of yourself by eating healthy, protecting your skin with sunscreen, not going outside when the pollen level is high for me. Enjoying a good movie that makes me cry can release stress and tense as well as watching a movie that makes me laugh so hard I cry. I try and relate to my co-workers maintaining social healthy relationships, by being open minded to be a good and understand friend and co-worker. At work I am in charge of the recycle program, if we can reuse, repurpose that is a way to save the environmental and that makes for a happy…

The first technique I used was imagery. After researching, I learned that in many studies imagery is used to reduce patient’s blood pressures. Basically its when you visualize in your head something that relaxes you or makes you happy. It could be you accomplishing a goal, doing an activity, or even a place. During the school week I often get overloaded with homework for hours. I sometimes stress on not being able to make a due date or not being able to finish on time and it leads to me giving up. This week in particular I felt like this. I took a five-minute break, lied down and imagined the last vacation I took. Imagining sounds such as the ocean hitting the rocks, smells such as the ocean water, touch such as the breeze against my hair and skin flowed the stress out of my body. I could feel my body heat decreasing, and my eyebrows unfurrowing. This is a great way to deal with…

Sometimes you just need to clear your mind. Stress just takes over your body and it overpowers you. You need to know how to control it by doing something physical. Physical activities take your mind off of things and they get you focused on what you’re doing, so for the time being you don’t remember that you were under stress, and once you’re done with your activity, you feel more relaxed and ready to handle it. I like to take a walk and think about my problems (peacefully) and how to solve them. When taking a walk, I never really know where I’m going to end up. I just walk around…

I took a group of four children to do a painting activity with me at the table. I then went on to ask each child what they would like to paint. All the children suggested they wanted to paint a castle, apart from child C who wanted to paint a picture of his family. I then asked each child what colour paper they would like to paint on and they all shouted “Blue” at me. I asked each child to pick the sizes of the paint brush they would like to paint with, as I went around all the children took a large paint brush and left me with four small brushes. Child C was very upset because there were no more large paint brushes and he does not like to use a small paint brush, as he finds it easier to paint with the larger brushes only, when he is painting…
