America is a tight-knit community, its citizens are always ready to stand up for their country during difficult times. Through many difficult times, the citizens are always there for our country, and as one people, they persevere and always come together. Our community is no different from any other, there are arguments, there are different views on many topics, as Barack Obama says “ But when all is said and done, we will come together as one people and pledge our allegiance” (1). In times of crisis and peril, the citizens of America unite. A prime example of this sadly is one of the most devastating things to happen to America, 9/11. When the first hijacked plane crashed into the North tower, people were confused and scared. When the second hit, the public realized it wasn't an accident.
Men running up burning flights of stairs trying to find survivors, firefighters sifting through the rubble, and bystanders comforting those who have lost. At this point in time, race and gender were no issues, the citizens overcame their differences and everyone banded together. All the citizens of America, each with their own story, each with pride, as Roosevelt once said: “This nation has placed its destiny in the hands and heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women, and its faith in freedom under the guidance of God” (51). There are so many loyal citizens in this country, but most do not understand the importance they have, and the power and impact they can make on this nation. That is the true meaning of our country, to believe in its people and their strength. Throughout time and time many have seen tragedies, whether big or small, on the personal level or the national, but in the end despite our differences, America will always find a way to come
