What Makes President Lincoln A Good Leader
Leadership of President Lincoln. What makes a good leader? A good leader needs to be able to make decisions with his values and integrity. In history President Abraham Lincoln was known for his values of being an honest man; therefore getting the name “Honest Abe.” Besides his values the decisions he had made as president is the strong suite for him becoming the Leader of true “Free World”. In are text book of how to become a well-respected leader we have learned that the person must be a leader of action also have strong intelligence, characteristics, and a purpose. To be a leader of action you must influence others into your beliefs. By beliefs I mean what you stand for in life, for Lincoln his belief was the freedom of slaves. Slavery …show more content…
President Lincoln had each of those intellectual concepts to be a leader. Mentally he analyzes the obscurity of owning slaves who are people and not property. Socially he had conversed with people around that didn’t own slaves and those who found it inhuman to treat other human beings nothing more than objects to acquire. Emotionally he knew the pain of being less fortunate and zealously felt that slaves could have the same chances he gave to himself. The values in his life come from the method of imprinting, modeling, and socialization. Imprinting is the method of a child first six to seven years of age mental development from the parents. Lincolns well liked personality come from his parents. The father was known as well-respected in the community by being an honest well-spoken person, and from his mother’s he gotten they kind generous behave. Modeling insinuates the identification of oneself around other peers or society. While growing up poor he had to picking of minimal education but also the treatment of being at the bottom of society and being seen almost equal to a slave’s life. Since his family was poor Lincoln had to work to help his home. When he was given the job to take cargo into New Orleans he had seen his first slave. Young Lincoln have never seen anything this barbaric and had no understanding to the situation but he had felt sad about the indecency towards this
