When I Ask Questions
As a teenager, the most valuable teaching I learned was to question everything. I was watching a
show that made me question my beliefs. The show's hosts talked about how everything is subject to
criticism. Nothing is so sacred that it cannot be questioned. The idea of questioning everything has
taught me to enjoy learning, to think creatively, and to appreciate mysteries.
As I go through life, I ask questions. As I ask questions, I learn more. As I learn more, I realize how
little I actually know. I looked up the film avatar on Wikipedia. On that page of the website, there were
links to other pages of things I did not know. The same on the next page and the one after that. Each

There is a sense of possibility in the thoughts that follow what is learned.
Some questions do not have answers. I was watching a documentary the other day about a famous
mathematician. His name was Archimedes. Some of the books that he wrought were lost. People today
ask what was in those books. They will never know but they should still ask. Those kinds of questions
are where fiction comes from.
People write fiction for many reasons. One of those reasons is the need that humans have to know
the answers to their questions. Creation stories are an example of this. When people realize that they
cannot answer the question of the origin of all things, they turn to fiction. The Greek myths say that
there was nothing in the beginning,which they call chaos. From that chaos,two children were born. The
children were called darkness and death. Darkness and death created love,which created light and its
friend,day. From those events, everything came to be. Today people still talk about Greek mythology.
Some characters have become superheroes in marvel films. It started with a question that became a story. Phillips
