The time for a leader to show his or her true worth is when they are faced with their greatest adversity. To me there are few better at this feat than Winston Churchill. For a leader to be followed they must lead. One of my favorite quotes about leadership is “A leader without followers is a man taking a walk” (Unknown). This uncredited quote is highly propagated and gets to the heart of leadership.…

Leaders are a necessity for people because typically without a leader there is confusion and disorganization. Yet, Aristotle and Plato believe that we shouldn’t have just any leader, but a leader who has reasoning, is ethical, and is intellectual. For example, in Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle states, “And perhaps it is necessary also for someone who wishes to make others better through his care, whether these be many or few, to attempt to become a skilled legislator, if it should be through laws that we become good.” Rules made by legislation should always seek the benefit of the public. Not only the laws, but the people in power should seek the good for others.…

A single great leader can create many great followers, but a single great follower cannot create a great leader. This assertion, if true, provides a perspective on where the gap is in America. A leader provides guidance and motivation to a group to achieve a common vision. The ability to be successful at this role requires the individual to actually believe in the vision first and then find the people that share their beliefs and rally them to achieve the vision. In most institutions (companies or government), the leaders are appointed or voted in by a process that doesn’t always align the vision of the leader with the vision of the group. How motivated will a follower be to follow in this situation; so they do not follow. Not a Follower…

Political systems can function with no constitution, judicial or legislative branches, but not a single government can survive with no strong leader, a powerful executive to form a state policy. Howard Gardner, an American psychologist, in his book “Leading Minds: An Anatomy of Leadership,” defined a leader as “an individual (or, rarely, a set of individuals) who significantly affects the thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors of a significant number of individuals.” Therefore, a true leader is expected to be honest and trusted, being responsible for people’s attitude and general behavior.…

Since ancient times, the ability to lead people is considered as the strongest quality and an undeniable advantage of successful person. If we look back at history, we can notice that all heads of states, the hetman and different leaders had this quality. Moreover, a public gave preference to leaders who are brave, who are not afraid to lead people, to declare war against another state, to take responsibilities in making important decisions for the country. People had a clear generated picture of the leader, they needed a person who is able to take care of them and protect them from danger. A person, who did not have leadership qualities, had no chance to become the ruler. Before we consider the basic qualities of a leader we should understand who is a leader. The leader is a person with clearly defined objectives and principles. Leader is not afraid of danger, he is always ready to take responsibilities for his own actions. Responsibility is a very important quality for a leader. If people, who trust their leader, will find out that their leader is not ready to take responsibilities for his actions, they will feel very insecure and immediately will re-elect another leader. Nowadays, the concept of leadership is applicable almost everywhere - in families, in companies, in politics. In the latter case, the leader has a clear position, referred to as a "president." If you draw a parallel with the history, the role of the president is very similar to the role of leader. Relationships between different countries depend on President’s actions, their political and economic cooperation, so the president must be a leader of the country, the guarantor of the constitution.…

Secondly, from the reality of the world point of view, a true leader is always the one who seeks for proper advice before making any important decisions. This is because he knows that his decisions do not only affect to himself but to other people around. For example, in the case of North Korea, the leader of the country instead of following policies to foster their own country's economy, improve their citizens' lives, and listen to their people's desires, they follow nuclear…
