Bilbo went of with many a strangers and he finally met the first of many skirmishes that will happen. In all truth he did not expect trolls to be a faulting enemy. Bilbo was known as the “burglar” in the group so he was sent out to investigate the smoke and light in which he was nearing the camp he noticed three huge trolls in which they were bickering about the soup and he suddenly thought about stealing from the trolls pockets and picking some mutton from the trolls and some beverage for himself and his company. But he was suddenly captured and was helped by the dwarves and Gandalf the wizard. Even though he was not strong enough to fight off the trolls that event pushed his soul more into the idea of being a hero even if it was not in the front of his mind. On the way to The Misty Mountains the Mountains retaliated and brought storms and rocks aimed at the poor group who in turned reached for a safe and dry place for the night. The Mountain gave a tiny bit of concern in which was made to be a small cave just enough to hold all of the group. What the group did not know was that the cave wa a Goblin entrance that led to the hideout of the Goblins who very much despised dwarves. When captured Gandalf disappeared to only reappear and help the dwarves out but Bilbo was separated from the group and traveled into Gollum’s cave which to get out he battled Gollum in wits which took form of riddles. Bilbo won by asking a question that was not an actual riddle but Gollum did not know that and guessed wrong which was supposed to make him lead Bilbo out of the cave but Gollum got mad and tried to attack him. Bilbo frightened stuck his hand in his pocket in which the ring he picked up from the floor which had magical properties that made him invisible. Bilbo used his courage and the hero inside him to get Gollum to unknowingly lead him to the exit. Bilbo met up with the rest of the group who were terrified of what had happened to Bilbo, but were set to rest after Bilbo explained somewhat that he was ok.
They set on their way to the Elven Forest that was treacherous and very harmful. When the dwarves were captured Bilbo put on the ring and followed the group to the Elven King’s palace. Bilbo rescued The group by smuggling them into barrels and set them off on their journey to Laketown. That was very heroic of Bilbo because it risked his neck for the good of his companions. Bilbo could have left the group behind and went back to his Hobbit hole. As George F. Kennan said “Heroism is endurance for one moment more”.Bilbo Baggins fought one more time every time he finished an act of bravery from fighting trolls to stealing a treasure from Smaug’s horde. He was a hero in his own way and with that said Bilbo himself turned into a heroic person and in many eyes a hero of great
stand.
