Whole Wheat Pita Pizza Research
When I need a healthy meal that is ready in a hurry, I normally turn to Whole Wheat Pita Pizzas. My toaster oven warms up quickly; I assemble the pizza while that's happening. A quick eight minute baking time and I have a nutritious version of pizza that is ready quicker than you can get delivery. Here are my recipes for a basic, no frills whole wheat pita pizza and a Hawaiian whole wheat pita pizza. Enjoy!

Below are the amounts needed for one whole wheat pita pizza; just multiply by the number of pizzas you need.

What You Need For Each Basic Pizza

1 whole wheat pita
3 tablespoons of jarred pasta sauce
1/4 cup of shredded fontina or mozzarella cheese

Directions

Heat your toaster oven to 475 degrees F, with a baking sheet in the oven.

Evenly spread the shredded cheese over the sauce. Once the toaster oven has reached 475 degrees F, place the pita pizza (or pizzas) on the hot baking sheet. Baking on a heated sheet or pan ensures a crispy crust. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool slightly before slicing.

That is all you need for a basic recipe, but the beauty of this recipe is its versatility. You can add just about any chopped vegetable or cooked meat to the pita before adding the cheese. I also like to sprinkle dried basil, oregano and thyme over the cheese before baking. One of my favorite versions of the pita pizza is the Hawaiian.

What You Need For Each Hawaiian Pizza

1 whole wheat pita
3 tablespoons of jarred barbeque sauce
1/4 cup of diced pineapple
2 tablespoons of diced ham (fully cooked)

Directions

Heat your toaster oven to 475 degrees F, with a baking sheet in the oven.

Evenly spread the barbeque sauce over the pita, leaving 1/4 inch around the edges dry. Sprinkle the ham and pineapple over the top, then evenly spread the shredded cheese over that. Once the toaster oven has reached 475 degrees F, place the pita pizza (or pizzas) on the hot baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool slightly before slicing.

Take corn tortillas from the grocery store, ideally the blue corn because it is not genetically modified, and spread the desired amount on a cookie sheet. Lightly brush with olive oil or butter (2 tablespoons should cover the whole pack). Skip the olive oil/butter for extra crispy chips. Add a dash of sea salt. For extra flavor sprinkle on some paprika, cayenne, and chili powder (about 1/8 of a teaspoon of each). Using a pizza cutter cut the tortillas into wedges. Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping the chips about half way. Keep an eye on them to make sure they do not burn. Of course, store bought chips will also work well with the guacamole recipe, but they are not as much…

The first step in cooking my family’s homemade lasagna is to select top-quality ingredients. There are many different requirements for this dish, and getting the cheap brand of any of the ingredients does not allow for the full potential of the meal. You need to have one 16 oz. package of Barilla lasagna noodles, two pounds of the store’s fresh ground beef, one 24 oz. can of Prego Traditional tomato sauce, half a teaspoon of salt, two 16 oz. bags of Kraft mozzarella cheese, and one 16 oz. cup of Sargento ricotta cheese. After purchasing these ingredients, the ground beef, mozzarella cheese, and ricotta cheese need to be placed in the refrigerator until consumption.…

Every kind of pizza begins with the crust, but before you have crust you have pizza dough. The soft off-white pizza dough is very malleable. The dough feels cool in your hands as you shape it into a circle adding flour as you knead the dough, and of course there’s the tossing of the dough in the air and catching it which in my opinion is the fun part. After you have your pizza dough shaped and ready, you spread the ingredient that really sets off the pizza, tomato sauce. The aroma of tomatoes and spices blended together perfectly smell wonderfully, and the zesty and robust taste is even better when you have the perfect sauce. After you apply the sauce, you add a layer of cheese. Mozzarella is the usual choice for cheese as it complements the pizza rather well. Especially when my favorite pizza toppings are added which are pepperoni, sausage, and Canadian bacon. Together, the ingredients create an amazing pizza. The last step in creating a pizza is baking the pizza. Hearing the tempting sound of the cheese sizzling as it melts atop the sauce covered golden brown crust in the oven almost makes you want to take the pizza out early and devour it.…
