Why Accountability Formation Is Important
Why Accountability Formations Are Important

This one thousand word essay that I am writing today is to explain what the importance of accountability formation is. Accountability formation is held every duty day to ensure the safty and well being of all personell within the company or battalion. Accountability starts, at most times, at 0630 hrs for physical training. During this time the First Sgt accounts for the safty and well being of his NCOs who in turn account for the safty and well being of their soldiers. If a soldiers or NCO does not arrive for 0630 formation then every attempt must be made to conntact the missing soldier or NCO.
Another formation is then held at 0930 and everyone is once again accounted for on a platoon level. This formation is held not only for accountability but also to assign details to everyone in the unit, put out information about training, future details or tasks that need to be accomplished by COB. Tasks come down from battalion to be accomplished and must be accomplished in a timely manner. The same applies to any training that comes down from battalion, the unit must meet their training requirements.
These accountability formations are also important because it lets the commander of the unit know how many personnel are avaliable to perform any tasks that come down or for any missions that need to be completed. This is important information because if some one is already assigned to a detail or mission they do not need to be double tapped, this alone could cause issues. The same applies to any soldiers or NCOs that have appointments. You do not want to double tap a soldier or NCO who is booked with appointments. You do not know what the importance of these appoints and there for should not make it hard on that soldier or NCO to meet their appointment. Also is a leader does not know how many people he or she may have then they do not know who is avaliable to complete tasks and or missions.
Equipment is also to be accounted

Soldier accountability is the one of the main responsibilities of the leadership in the Army. Whether it comes from the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) support channel or from the actual chain of command. The NCO support channel plays the biggest role in the accountability process. During any type of formation you will notice that the process starts with team leaders ensuring their team is all present passing the information through the squad leader to the platoon sergeant. At this point the platoon sergeant will pass the information along to the platoon leader and company first sergeant. The company first sergeant will then pass the information along to the company commander. At this point if there…

Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for ones actions. Those that are unable to be accountable are the ones that jeopardize the combat readiness of any unit. It is the understanding that everyone is going to do and is willing to do the right thing even when no one else is looking. Everyone is assigned tasks and details not only including your own job that you are expected to do and do right but hold others accountable as well as a system of “check yourself, than check your buddy.” Doing the job correctly and ensuring others do it as well and do it safely are all part of accountability in the military as it can be dangerous given the types of equipment and tools we use. As an example any tools and or equipment left unsupervised can be lost and or stolen. As such in that event if the tools and or equipment was left out instead of signed out the wrong person becomes accountable. Everyone is accountable for their actions. You should always act responsibly as well, not just yourself but everyone. We spend thousands of dollars for each person to be trained and when ready, the expectation at your permanent party duty station is that you are going to be accountable for your actions and you as an individual operate and, that everyone around you is going to do the same. It is what is not only taught but it is what’s expected from everyone. Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to work and to appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the right thing at the right time. It is also to see if everyone showed up to work or where they are supposed to be. Accountability is not only for keeping track of other people it can also be for keeping track of money, gear, legal documents, and many other things. The reason you would want to keep track of any of this is so if there is ever a time where a lot of equipment or other items goes missing you would be able to look…

The definition of accountability comes from the state of being accountable; liability to be called on to render an account; the obligation to bear the consequences for failure to perform as expected; accountableness. The importance of being on time accounted for is because lets say that you do not come back to formation after you go out on a convoy then they know that you are missing. If you do not show up and you do not respond on the radio there is going to possibly be a search team for you. If they do send a search team for then that puts that entire team at risk while looking for you. Point of accountability formation is to make sure all of your soldiers are there and that they are all accounted for. If one person is not accounted for then the entire formation does not leave. It is not just the fact that everyone is accounted for it is part of your military duty to be at formation and at movement. If you do not make it to formation or movement it is punishable by UCMJ. It could be the end of your career. Not only will it ruin everything that you have gone through and wasted your time but you are also letting your buddies down and if you can not show up to formation what makes you think that they can trust you in being there in the time of need. If you can not be there then what is your team going to think when they hear over the radio that you are on the way and you are the only one that can help them. They are going to be like what that is the only person we have well we are al good as dead. Accountability does not end in the army life it also goes into civilian world. When you have a job in the civilian world they are looking for someone that can be on time and do the job but the second that you are not on time your accountability starts to go down the drain.…

I have several organizational issues which need immediate attention. Although the brigade transformed into an HBCT fairly well, including conducting this transformation at the onset of a deployment into a combat theater under the new formation, it was still successful in its missions. With that being said, the brigade did have many issues that cannot and will not happen under my watch. I am working with a brigade which, has just gone through a massive change over in personnel, to include most of the primary staff and the Command Sergeant Major. So, I have personnel issues regarding continuity within the brigade and how things are done. Therein lays my first approach. I will bring all my primary staff, Commanders, Command Sergeants Majors and their S3 Sergeants Majors together and give them my philosophy, mission statement, vision and what I think their focus should be to bring the brigade back to what it once was.…

Accountability in the army is important because soldiers as well as equipment, ammunition, food, water and other various supplies are vital to the operation and proper function of the army as a whole. To start with, soldiers must be accounted for because they are the responsibility of their team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, and so on. If you don't have accountability of soldiers then when you attempt to conduct a mission you may not have all the soldiers you should have and that could cost you not only failing your mission but your life and the lives of the soldiers with you. Having accountability of each and every soldier at all times lets the leadership know how many soldiers they can spare for various details and still continue with the mission at hand. Another thing that is very important to keep accountability on is equipment. If your soldiers don't have the equipment they need or the equipment they were issued then it could cause a major problem in the mission possibly causing you to fail the mission and lose lives of your soldiers for not having proper equipment. Not only is accountability of equipment highly important but making sure all the equipment works how it is designed and intended to be used. Accountability of ammunition is important as well, if you are on a mission and not all of your soldiers have ammunition then it could cost the mission and lives. Keeping accountability of your soldiers, your soldiers equipment status, and ammunition status are very important to completing a mission successfully without any problems. Also keeping track of soldiers equipment as well as ammunition can help save the army funds to put to better use to help soldiers with retirement, their benefits, various programs and classes. Another thing in the army to keep accountability on is food, it is the most important thing to accomplishing a mission successfully. If a soldier hasn't been able to eat for days because leaderships lack of accountability of food it…
