People always have that one person they can look up to as a role model. They are the ones who set good examples to you, give you advice, be there for you, and small things that matter to us. Many employees at Toyota of Dallas look up to the owner Darren Dortch; he is a very kind a generous person who truly care about his customers and employees. Darren has set a great example on how to run a very successful business by showing us that customers always have to stand before us while working, which he does when he sees a customer walking, he politely goes up to them, greets them, hands shakes them with a big smile in his face. That’s the reason why many people look up to him because he is just a great to be around, he always makes you feel comfortable when you talk to him not feeling nervous and that’s how everyone should be when talking to an owner of a huge company being yourself not worrying what he’s going to judge about you. "From an early age, I always had role models in my life who drilled into me the importance of a strong work ethic and to always focus on what I do best. I grew up watching with admiration as my late father, Robert Schnatter, and my late grandfather, ‘Papaw' Ackerson, handled their business and respective legal careers with fierce determination. No matter how much they sometimes struggled, they never gave up, and that taught me a lot about business and life.…

Reflects upon one of the most elusive aspects of leadership - caring - and offers a deeper understanding of how and why it works. Premise is employees perform best when their contributions are genuinely appreciated. However, Kouzes and Posner assert most executives have not mastered the decidedly soft-management skill of "encouragement" that fosters such behavior. They advocate mutual respect and recognition of accomplishments to motivate and encourage others to be their very best. More importantly, they extend a set of principles, practices, and examples that show how to energize people to excel and then reach for even greater heights. Kouzes and Posner maintain that people will aspire…

What makes a good role model? A role model can take on many shapes and forms. They can be someone that people look up to or even someone that a person strives to be. I think of my role models in almost everything that I do. I always ask myself, "what would my role model do?" It almost always steers me in the right direction. Most role models effect people in a positive way by something they do or something that they say. I've noticed that when most people talk about their role models they talk about prominent figures in history or our society such as Abrahams Lincoln or rosa parks. Both of my role models lead by example and that is what I admire most about them. One of my role models is not a prominent figure like those, but has still influenced me in a similar way that those people influenced others. It is not about how famous or prominent the role model…

An Italian restaurant where I worked in Washington, D.C., sold a fantastic thick veal chop that we topped with fresh chanterelles and lemon and sage. Nearly every ticket that came into the kitchen had at least one veal chop sold on it. But one particular waiter suggested customers order single veal chops grilled with garlic and rosemary. The garlic and rosemary was a fine preparation but it wasn't the one that the chef had written nor was it the one that we prepped for. Fortunately it was simple enough to prepare so as not to be a nuisance. (The same cannot be said of the server - simple yes, but definitely a nuisance.)…
