Why Americans Won The Revolutionary War

I believe it to be more accurate that the Americans won the war, but essentially only by default. It was obvious from very early on that the British were superior in ways of troops, war tactics, and overall preparedness for warfare. The Americans, armed only with a deep passion for the cause and very little experience of battle, struggled to win any major victories against Britain’s immense army. While the Americans started to have some positive successes such as with the Battle of Trenton and more importantly with the Battle of Saratoga, it became clear that the Americans needed to fight this war differently. General George Washington specifically realized that the key to winning this war was not by winning battles but by dragging the war on for as long as possible, exhausting the British troops of their patience. This finally occurred with the crucial American victory in the Battle of Yorktown, the results of which left the British citizens, troops, and parliament ready to end this war and move onto the negotiation phase.
While the Americans did have some significant victories that ultimately led to the end of the Revolutionary War, they truly didn’t defeat the British, they merely wore them out to the point that they didn’t want to fight
