You also get drafted by how good you are. So it is harder than you think to become an athlete in college and professional sports.
But what about community services like police and firefighters? Why don’t they get as much money? They train a lot too. Yes, they do. But they are not in a franchise like sports. Usually the local or state government pays them. They are not able to be paid that much. The government would be bankrupt if they paid police, firefighters, and teachers millions. There are much, much more civil services than basketball players. Or any sport. The average pay for a policeman is forty-eight thousand dollars a year. And as I said before, the average pay for an NBA player is five million dollars per year.
Although many athletes are paid millions, athletes should be paid as much as they are. Not all athletes are paid millions of dollars, and they are in a franchise, unlike civil services. If all civil services like policemen, teachers, and firefighters were paid millions, our local, state, and federal governments would be bankrupt.
