was a just war. A just war is a war fought because land was taken from you, you’re being invaded, and your people are being killed. There aren't very many just wars, but having war is necessary only if it's just. How could you rule a country then just let invaders come in and do what ever they want to your people and just watch it happen. Someone that truly believes in the bible would not let it happen. The people who would just let anything happen to them and never use violence are called pacifist. Pacifists believe that Christians should never use violence. Pacifists do not want a Christian ruler. There reasoning for that is because Christians shouldn't fight, but there okay with heretics doing all of there dirty work. How in the world is this even moral? They think that if someone were to break into your home and threaten to harm your kids they wouldn't do anything to stop them. They would just let there kids, wife, and himself get murdered. That is actually a scary thought. In war your motive should be to defend and certainly not to kill. What's wrong with defending something that you love? The commandment that says love your neighbor as yourself also applies to war. If you truly love your neighbor then won’t you defend them from any harm? Same goes if you have children. Most Mothers and Fathers would give there life just to save their children let alone take someone else’s life. You would have to be insane to let your kids die in front of you. Augustine believed in something called inward deposition. Inward Deposition means you could kill someone only if your heart was right. Some people misconceive the 6th commandment. The 6th commandment states” thou shall not murder.” Now most people combine murder and kill. Murder and kill are two completely different things. Killing someone is an act of defense while murdering someone is ending their life for an unnecessary reason. Gandhi was a pacifist ruler in India. During World War Two he told the Jews to end their lives instead of fighting back against the Nazis. Isn’t ending your own life an act of murder? In what world is that even moral? If you are a pacifist then how do you explain John 2:15?
John 2:15 states “when he made a whip of cords he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers money and overturned tables.” Even Jesus Christ used violence when it was necessary and we all know Jesus never sinned. What about god using violence in the New Testament? We also all know that God does not change and if you believe that he does change then he is not truly God. Also, didn’t Jesus go to war with the devil to protect us from sin? Romans 13:4 states “For he is God’s minister to you for good, but if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain.” This verse talks about God bearing the sword. He is saying bear the sword, but not in vain which comes back to the whole Just War theory. Since Romans 13:4 says do not bear the sword in vain then isn’t the Just War theory the correct stance to believe in? God loves everyone on this earth. The earth is also full of sin and people are constantly getting corrupted with sin. Therefore bad things are going to happen and it’s going to come to a point where it’s necessary to defend yourself or your loved ones. There should be plenty of examples to sway you to defend yourself and your loved
ones.
