Why Do NFL Teams Avoid?
The NFL makes an average of 8 billion dollars in revenue a year, some years making over 10 billion dollars in a single season. All of the money coming directly or indirectly from fans. Making NFL teams publicly owned and traded where anybody could purchase a stock and be a “owner.” Some people say that if NFL teams were publicly owned unpopular teams would not sell as many stocks therefore not being able to fund their team's needs. If NFL teams where publicly owned the NFL as an organisation would make much more money. Some people think that in order for the NFL teams to be publicly owned fans would have to show equal support for every team. This make sense because a team like the Dallas Cowboys, who are already worth $4 billion, would sell more stocks than the Oakland Raiders , who are only worth $1 billion. The reason that is incorrect is that even the Oakland Raiders, making the lowest reneuve of any team, still makes more than enough money to support their franchise coming from their fans. The Raiders make 285 million dollars a year coming from fans in some way according to Forbes. That is a low income …show more content…
Lockouts happen because of disputes in revenue distribution . The NFL makes on average 8 billion dollars a year. At the end of the year they split up the money and give it to the teams. The lockout happens when a greedy owner thinks that they are not getting enough money and refuses to let their team play. The NFL lockout of 2011 cost them 1 billion dollars according to espn. If these teams were publicly owned by fans this wouldn't have happened. Teams being publicly owned means that they are non-profit organisations. The money is going back into the team so their wouldn't be any greedy owners getting upset and costing the league billions of dollars because they think they should get more money. NFL teams being publicly owned would be a great idea for the

The article I read is called, “Road to $25 Billion: Where could the NFL’s revenue growth come from?” The aspiration of getting to $25 billion was introduced during an annual owners meeting in Orlando in 2010. This number was figured based on the amount of money the NFL needed to compete as a global entertainment brand. They wanted the NFL to compete not only against other sports leagues but also against well-known companies such as Apple. The league hopes to reach this goal by 2027. As of 2012, the NFL had $9.5 billion of revenue. In order to reach their goal, they will have to average over $1 billion dollars of revenue annually for the next 15 years.…

The problem with a possible expansion though is that the NFL would still have to find new homes for the struggling teams. Commissioner Goodell also is weary of changing the current landscape of the NFL. You can’t just add one team if you are going to expand because that would leave the NFL with an uneven number of teams. Two teams would have to be added and it is unknown whether the NFL is currently prepared to expand, having just recently done so in 2002 with the Houston Texans. This would also leave two divisions with five teams, creating all types of scheduling issues.…

Sports are an intimate part of many people’s lives. Without it, many of us would not share certain relationships or bonds with people who like it as much as we do. Football is indeed my favorite sport to watch. From the touchdown dances to seeing a favorite player break a record, football is intense, exciting, and amusing to watch. Football teams can define the character of certain regions and places (Sports and Recreation, 2004). In good old Minnesota, we “bleed purple” and love our Minnesota Vikings. Although the Vikings have never won the Super Bowl, we still love them regardless because of their hard work and dedication to the sport and to the fans. The whole organization behaves in a manner that keeps the fans coming back for more, as do other National Football League teams around the United States. The National Football League and its teams need to have spot-on organizational skills. If there is not proper organizational…

Without them there would be no National Football League. But along with all the fans comes plenty of opposition to it. Though it is the NFLs responsibility to properly punish athletes who break the law, many believe that they do not do a sufficient job doing so. For example; Ray Rice was initially suspended for two games when it was reported that he had punched his wife in the face, though it was eventually changed to an indefinite suspension when a video of the altercation was released, Tom Brady got an initial suspension of 4 games for possibly deflating some footballs. Brady received double the amount of games suspended for a case that had an end result of “more probable than not” than a man who it was known for sure had beaten his wife. That is just one of many cases of the NFL and its string of incompetent commissioners not punishing its athletes fairly. Due to this notion of unfair punishment it is often said the only way for this crime problem to stop is through the fans. There are many that call to boycott the NFL, asking questions like: “Are you a decent person?” or “Do you regard yourself as having a moral compass?”. They do this in order to make fans feel guilty for enjoying watching these criminal athletes play even though they presumably know what the person they are rooting for did. These calls for boycott do not seem to have a very significant effect on the league due to its popularity continuing to increase every year. So why don’t more fans take action? Why do they continue to condone the domestic violence? The robbery? And in some cases, the murder? NFL fans are no strangers to scandal, it seems to rip through at least a few franchises every year and it seems that by now they are numb to it and see no need to take action. Crime is a continuously debated topic in the sports world, if one was to google “should professional athletes who break the law be banned from their sport” you will find hundreds of…

“I think not paying athletes is a tradition and also there would be less fans at games if they were paid” according to Mark Emmert (President of the NCAA ). Why would fans stop watching the games if they are in full support and love the game and the players that they love to watch? College athletes deserve some money, so that when they get out of college they can start a life. How else would they make money? They don’t have time for a job, they go to the school classes, then to their practice, and then back to their dorm to study and do homework for their classes. The time commitment required for college sports, college athletes should be paid.…

To get a sense of the amount of money involved intercollegiate sports such as football. Let’s be clear, football cannot be taught, its either you have it in you or you don’t have it in you, ‘’It’s a God given talent’’. I honestly don’t believe it is fair for football players to not receive a single penny after bringing in thousands and sometimes millions of dollars in the playoff games, and in the championship game. For example, on December 31 2016, Per Adam Jude both teams were allotted 13,000 tickets which equal’s 26,000 tickets, which left 45,228 tickets to be paid for full price. According to www.vividseats.com the cheapest tickets were 180.00 each. There are 20,000 nosebleed seats in this stadium they played in. so if you do the math and calculate 180x20,000, the amount will equal out to 360,000 dollars, which would be the amount of money these football athletes attracted in just off nosebleed seats. The NCAA is a multi-billion-dollar industry that generated over $845 billion last year due to their players’ ability to entertain and perform to their fullest extent always. So, with all this money flowing in why wouldn’t they provide their athletes a stipend? Truth be told, if it wasn’t for these athletes there wouldn’t be no fans, which mean there wouldn’t be no money. So, can you tell how is it fair that these football players can’t receive a single dime after putting in the time,…

This would lessen the competition and popularity of the sports below the professional level and leave most of the pressure on the professional teams. Another positive of this would be less time spent on the television by youth. That is a growing problem as technology becomes more prevalent in culture today. The fact is that everyone could benefit from catching a break from electronics and with college and high school sports not televised as regularly, it would be easier to take a break for sports fans. The cons of this is that there would many universities suing ESPN and other networks that cover these sports for not giving their university as much publicity through their sports teams. This would result in a ton of lost money from ESPN from suing and there wouldn’t be as many advertisements shown because the lack of covered sports games. Another con would be that parents of the athletes on these teams wouldn’t get to watch as many of their kid’s games at home. They would have to be there or not watch it at all. All of these solutions are great, but there is one that I think is the best of them all.…
