There are many different dogs to choose from. Depending on what breed a dog is, they vary in their size, weight, abilities, and lifespan. For example, Great Danes can possibly be over 2 feet tall when standing on all four legs, and can weigh up to around 200 pounds. Despite their size, they only live around 7 to 10 years. An example of a smaller dog is a Chihuahua. They can be 6 to 9 inches tall when it’s fully grown and weigh about 3 to 6 pounds. They may be small, but they can live from 10 to 18 years on average. Dogs can also be divided into classes based on their breed. Retrievers are sporting types, Bloodhounds are hunting types, Chow-Chows are non-sporting types, etc. Each group of …show more content…

These canines can also be very helpful.
For instance, the German Shepherd is like the police of the dog world. They are well-known for their police service and their obedience. They are very versatile in the things they do, and are great at most anything they are trained to do. They can be taught to guide and assist the handicapped, do police and military service, herd other animals, and search and rescue. Plus, they can even be taught to detect and sniff out drugs. Another kind of helping dog is a Dalmation. They can be just as helpful as a German Shepherd. Dalmations can be firefighting dogs. When training, they are sensitive and do not respond well to harsh training methods. Even though they don’t do well under harsh training, they are still very obedient. They can be good at hunting. A dog’s good sense of smell is very helpful when searching for game. But only certain dogs are better at tracking things than other
dogs.
Dogs can also make great companions. For example, the Bichon Frise (BEE-shawn FREE-say) is very affectionate dog. They love to play and are gentle. Small children and even babies could play with them because of how gentle they can be. They don’t shed as much as other dogs, so that means there won’t be so much cleaning around the house. Maybe you would find strands of dog fur every now and then, but there won’t be piles of them everywhere so there isn’t as much trouble. Another example of a companion dog could be a Maltese. They are very friendly and also gentle. They love to be around people and want to spend time with them constantly. They are also hypoallergenic dogs, which means that they are very unlikely to cause allergic reactions. Plus they can also work as therapy dogs since they’re so friendly!
Getting a dog that you want and being with each other is a great adventure. They can be a challenge to take care of but are worth it. People’s breed preference differs from each person. All dogs are different, they can help out in everyday life, and make great companions.
Adopting or saving them and giving it a new home will always be important to your dogs. Something like this will be a memory for both you and your dog.
