Why High School Students Fail In College Essay
There are many reasons that high school students are not prepared when they go into college. Student are most likely to struggle right out of high school when they go straight into college There three reason I think why high school need to preparing their students for college because their class are not up to the level of college, the student are not uses to the amount of work, students are not used to the three time they First, the classes that students take during high school needs to prepare their students for college because most students take classes which are easy. These classes need to prepare students for college, there are few honor classes, but students decide to keep it easy. I think that if the students are planning on going …show more content…

The amount of work that students do in high school is less than the amount of work in college. The college work load is much harder than the work load in high school. In college, students have to do work in a short amount of time, but in high school students have a longer amount of time to do the work. According to Karen Arenson “some high school may not even offer college preparatory courses, or they may be watered down or taught badly” (The learning gap). The work is more structural during college than during your high school career. I think high school work need to be as hard as college because that would help prepare the students for college. Then the students wouldn't struggle during their first year of college. The high school work load should as rigorous as college work because it will make the students not to struggle when their first year of college. This would make course for the first year student, not to struggle. The high school course should prepare students for college so that students don’t struggle during their first year of college. The type of work the students should be as hard as college work because it will prepare them for their college

College is much different from my high school in so many ways. In my high school we was always on the same routine. We had four periods a day and first period started at 7:45 and we was on a block schedule meaning our classes was an hour and thirty minutes long. We had the same classes everyday so more learning during the day and less homework. Immediately after school we had football practice four days a week and played on Fridays. High school Is a good preparation for college, even though while in high school you will never expect what happens in college. In high school your parents were more involved in what go on in your daily life, whether you get in trouble in class or you get sick at lunch.…

    Stereotypes In College

I believe the biggest challenge college students face today is the fact that a lot of them are not mentally prepared. A lot of students do not realize that college is a whole new ball game. In high school some people do not really have to study to make an A, but in college you really have to work for just getting a B. Some students can go in with the mentality "well I was one of the best at my school, it is not going to be different in college" and that is what is wrong. Students in high school should have a week or two were they are graded as if they were in college just to give them a taste of how much they have to work and how disappointing it may be for…

High school students should think precisely about college, whether if it is worth going to a specific college they are thinking about, or the major they think or decide to major in. Every high school student should know what they are dealing with before going to college. Despite the student debt and tuition costs rising, college is worth it because you get to climb the economic ladder if you pick a good major that pays good and you can be more educated and see the world differently than others, do not be a robot!…

High school classes might have seemed better in the past compared to college. You might feel more comfortable in smaller classes than you would heading off to university, but that is simply from the comfort of your surroundings. You are familiar with your teachers and your closest friends are always by your side. This might create a friendlier environment, but branching away from the only things you have ever known will help you grow as an individual. Leaving home to start your life as an adult can be tough; however, learning every day responsibilities and making new relationships are two things that will benefit anyone who is getting ready to enter the “real world.” Students benefit more from college classes over high school classes because they learn responsibilities and create new relationships which help them to gain independence.…

First off college is necessary because it promotes discipline, maturity, and independence. More college students are successful in life because they have matured through college. When you weigh the differences between attending high school and college, you’ll soon realize that college is far more expensive than high school. The schoolwork load in college is increasingly difficult than in high school, and students will have a great deal of responsibilities in college. Though high school and college have a distinctive difference, students who think education is frivolous are mistaken and both are equally important to enhance the experience that people need in order to be successful in…

As a child, I constantly had my nose in a book. Reading came quite naturally to me, Jane Robinson, and I still carry that passion today. As I grew, I gained another passion; writing. Elementary started my passion through the teachers making the class journal about their lives. These journals helped me to learn to write down my thoughts and keep track of them in chronological order. Writing continues to be a vital part of my education that I enjoy.…

(Greens’) Article says many students aren’t ready for college. The rate of high school graduation has went up but college performance rate has dropped to its lows’ (Green). In my opinion, high school graduates should take a year off before going to college. The time following high school is a time of great change in a teenager’s life. They should be allowed to experience freedom and try new things without having to worry about maintaining good grades in college. In many cultures, especially in Europe, upon completion of high school or its equivalent, students will take a break year to essentially find out more about themselves. While I believe that having goals and a sense of direction is important in life, having fun and living life to the fullest is just as vital. By having a year off before continuing to college, teenagers would able to enjoy life before becoming burdened with the responsibilities that adulthood brings with it.…

High school students have a lot of potential. They can finish all the work that their teachers hurl at them. If finishing high school in a shorter amount of time requires more devotion of their time to their studies, they are more than capable of doing it. The National Center of Education released results for a survey given to high schools nationwide. The schools reported two million dual enrollment students and three and a half million AP students. There are roughly seventeen million high school students in the U.S, which means roughly thirty-two percent of all American high school students are taking courses for college credit. Why would these students take college courses? Imaginably because they realized that high school was essentially over and the ‘filler’ courses that they would go on to take in their junior and senior years would be counterproductive. In other words, they were bored.…
