Why I Chose Real Estate
One of the most important decisions we make in life is determining what occupation or profession we seek. Our professional careers are not only about earning monetary benefits, but also the pursuit of happiness. My ideal future source of income and happiness would be within the field of real estate. I am especially interested in focusing on real estate investment and development. Both my parents were very active in real estate industry for many years. By growing up immersed in the culture of this business, I was introduced to the rudimentary process from an early age. Real estate is an attractive option for me because of the personal skills I possess, the opportunity to help others and the freedom that the occupation entails. As an emerging business leader of the twenty first century, I possess the necessary skills of persuasion, the appreciation of learning, and leadership that will enable me to lead and assist others within the field of real estate. Since I was a small child, I have exercised the skill of persuasion, with a special passion for the art of negotiation. My persuasion skills have been applied through the extensive practices of a car salesman at a local auto dealership. Persuasion is a vital skill within the …show more content…

I greatly value the opportunity to allow my performance to determine my wages rather than being set to a fixed amount. Real estate is also a very flexible field, as work hours and conditions can be coordinated around other aspects of life. After analysis of Mr. Alexander’s proposal, it is obvious why he should take advantage of a real estate investment opportunity. The experience he would gain coupled with the added income would establish a solid foundation for making more investments in the future. To this end, however, I find Alexander’s plan for the Revere Street property falls short. A major deficiency is that his projections are almost entirely predicated on estimates and assumptions that are neither conservative nor reliable. In a similar vein, Alexander’s “DIY” approach is not only exemplar of naiveté, but also suggestive of many implications that were overlooked in his proposal. And, even more discouraging, a best-case scenario analysis reveals that even without complication, there is little room for error afforded by the plan. Therefore, I would not advise Alexander to move forward with his investment strategy, as its potential for reward is far outweighed by its risk.…

Everyone is asked one question, at a very young age. That question is: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There isn’t a time I can remember when an adult didn’t ask me this question. When I was six, I would respond with the usual movie star, fashion designer, or veterinarian. My answer would be said confidently, as at this age I walked through life as if it were no big deal. My answer occasionally changed to fit with my many childhood phases, but my view on the question stayed the same. When I was a child, I replied to this inquiry the same way everyone else did; I answered with an occupation. It took me years to discover my new approach to this question. My new response did not include my dream job, but how I saw myself in the future.…

Ever since I was younger, I’ve had a large imagination, filling up my days dreaming up endless scenarios of the future. Thinking of possible careers was never a problem, but choosing out of the many life paths I wanted was. I alternated between wedding planner, creating a notebook filled with torn out pages of poofy dresses and possible wedding locations; author, stuffing short stories and poems into a floral folder; and psychiatrist, researching the process to become a doctor. The thought that these may not be options for me never crossed my mind. I only knew I would do whatever I could to live out the future I saw in my mind.…
