Why I Want To Be A Pa
The reasons why I want to be a PA is that it is a profession that offers so much flexibility, diversity, and an expansive set of knowledge and skills for an individual that wants to practice medicine without having to go to medical school. As a PA, I would have an extensive choice of specialties I can practice in with the flexibility of working two different specialties simultaneously or switching from one specialty to another without requiring any extra schooling. I grew up with the mindset to learn something about everything. PAs are taught under this generalist principle to have knowledge in almost every discipline of medicine without requiring years of schooling. One of my main aspirations in becoming a PA is to be capable of teaching myself everyday throughout my entire life. It demands constant adaptation to the daily revelations in medicine and implementing them through educating your patients and your colleagues. Living in this era, sharing these new discoveries is easier than ever. As a techie, my preferred platform of learning is through the technological …show more content…
Being curious and tenacious allows me to be the life- longer needed to be a PA. As a teenager, I used to attend pre- engineering classes during the weekend as a hobby while my favorite subjects were biology and math. I would look at people the way I look at machines, breaking them down, figuring out what makes them run and how do they run, and knowing how to troubleshoot if something were to go wrong. This psyche caused me to be meticulous when it came to finding solutions when a problem did arise. Sometimes, the most complex problem may have the simplest solution, and vice versa. By considering everything, it allows me to quickly develop a plan in order to solve issues, and this has helped me a lot as I was working as an IT tech and as a physical therapy

Why become a physician assistant (PA) over a doctor (MD) or a registered nurse (RN)? Although the duties of a RN resemble those of a PA, PA’s have more responsibilities and the ability to prescribe medication, plus the salary is a lot better. Of course with more responsibilities comes more education, while RN’s only require a 4-year degree, becoming a PA requires the completion of a 2-3-year physician assistant program. I decided to go for PA instead of MD because I do not want to go to school for another 6 years or put myself hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. As a physician assistant, I get to perform the same duties as a doctor with the exception of surgery; I could assist in surgery only under supervision of a physician. Another reason to choose PA over MD was the flexibility when it comes to specialties. Doctors are required to choose a specialty and…

However, if I ever go back to do that, I would want to either do labor and delivery or pediatrics.
