Today's business administrative assistant is an essential part of any successful organization. It’s often referred to as the “jack of all trades” position. One minute you’re calling clients, the next minute you’re fixing the paper jam in the printer while taking down your bosses coffee order and opening mail. Throughout this report I will highlight some key points about entering the wonderful world of a Business Administrative Assistant. During the year of school, I will learn: Office Professionalism, Accounting Principles, Promotions, Marketing, Human Relations, Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks.
Why I’m Interested in the Field
I am interested in being a Business Administrative Assistant because it’s an in demand field. According to the Explore Careers - Outlook Report, “For the 2016-2018 period, the employment outlook is expected to be fair for Administrative assistants in Manitoba” The field is on the rise due to the high number of people expected to retire.

For 1 year: I would have done my absolute best in practicum, in hopes to secure myself a position at the organization of my choice.
For 5 years: For the last 5 years I would have worked as hard as I could to become an executive director. At this point in my career I would be thinking about going back to school to up my education to help prepare me to accelerate my career.
For 10 years: At this point I would have gone through additional schooling, and continued to work and take on extra projects, and basically do whatever I could to move up to a CEO position, either at the company I would have had practicum at, or if there was no longer room for advancement there I would have moved on to a different company.
Conclusion
In conclusion, if I work hard I’ll be on the right track to success. I will apply the skills I currently have and skills I am working on to get the career I want. I now know the industry requirements, employers’ expectations, as well as the education required to succeed. I also have a brief understanding on what companies there is to work for, and their benefits as well as their salary range. I also know the related fields if I were to want to switch job roles, and job advancements if I wanted to move up. Lastly, I have laid out my goals for the next 10 years and how to achieve them.
