What can be more rewarding knowing you have made a difference in someone’s life? I expect graduate school to be challenging but yet rewarding and exciting. Waking up everyday knowing that I am pushing forward to a more fairer, equal and just society. It will allow me to fight for people’s right, protect and support those who are vulnerable and created positive impact on others. However, becoming more knowledgeable about my identity and myself can better equip me to manage obstacles that I will come my
way.
They are many areas of social work that interest me such as family services, child welfare and health care. A current issues in society that I can really connect with it is reducing violence against girls and woman. They are many ways to eliminate this problem. First and foremost promoting gender inequality in schools is the first step in the right direction. Becoming a mentor and getting involved in programs to teach young people to solve problems with out violence. Teaching and helping others to stand up and speak out against messages that say violence or mistreating women is okay. I envision a world where gender based violence is unacceptable and where victims receive the justice and support they deserve. Pursing a master degree in social work is my calling and aspiration. If selected for this program, I will continue to apply the same diligence to my studies as I have to this point, making my education and service to others my top priority. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
