Why Is Bill Cosby Unethical
Bill Cosby has been the subject of much controversy and concern due to serious allegations that have been brought to light from his past actions. For decades his has discussed topics to the younger generations as he has cast himself as an all-American dad and grandfather expressing morals and how a family man should act and conduct himself. His persona made him the most beloved family man on national television. On Wednesday, Fox News shared another story that his lies over the years, has made Walt Disney World take action by removing the bronze statue of his likeness from the Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida.
The removal of the Bill Cosby statue is just one stepping stone in the list of bad news involving this celebrated comedian. It has come to light through reports from over two dozen women that he assaulted them. He admitted contributing false responses and denials to serious allegations when questioned about them. While he continually voiced his opinion by brushing the allegations under the rug, taking the assault on his character lightly there is now proof that his actions weren’t pure or morally proper when it came to young women he once worked with.

These acts, as heroic and moral as they were at the time isn’t stacking up against the shameful behavior and acts he has been accused of in his past. He has aggressively done everything in his power to protect his character and public image, and it looks like his luck has run out. This past December is proof that he can’t keep up his all-American image any longer because he willingly or unwillingly resigned from the board of trustees at Temple in Philadelphia. In Goldie Taylor’s piece, she noted an important concept in her experience: the systemic silencing of survivors. Our culture has denied her voice and that of other survivors, making them fearful of judgement or that it is their fault. The rape culture that has been created in our society makes it difficult for any person to come forward because we silence the survivor and culturally accept the actions of the perpetrator. The first thing that Taylor did that many survivors do is question how her identity and the identity of her perpetrator will affect how people believe her. She notes her identity as a black woman, and he as a white older man, a coach assured to be respected in their community.…

She outlined three key actions that could effectively diminish the sheer amount of sexual assaults that happen on college campuses every day. She first asks that we simple change our conversation. Whether we mean them or not, our words can have a detrimental effect on the perception of women in society. The power of words is vast and just by changing the way we speak about others can influence the way we see eachother: not as objects, but as human beings. Neff briefly spoke about the recording of Donald Trump bragging about his inappropriate advances towards women. At one point he said, “When you’re a star, they let you do it.” Since the tapes were released, several women have come forward accusing Donald Trump of sexual assault, dating back at least two decades. Because of the release of these tapes, the conversation surrounding sexual assault has increased tenfold.…

One night, Scout was playing with a little roly-poly on the step outside their house. Once Scout decides she is bored of playing with the little bug, she decides to kill it, but Jem stops her. Scout asks Jem why she cannot kill the bug and Jem claims that, “...they don’t bother you” (320). Jem knows that killing something that did no harm and was completely harmless is wrong, this is why he advises Scout to not kill the roly-poly. Once again, this roly-poly is another creature that symbolizes a mockingbird, innocent, harmless, and to Scout, a source of entertainment. The reason that Jem makes such a big deal about this situation is because he is still processing Tom Robinson’s death and all the injustice that Tom Robinson endured during his trials, so Jem really understands that killing is wrong, especially to something so innocent.…

The word "bigot" is a powerful word. It is a word that many feel to be of the utmost offense, and yet, by definition, it is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices. With this in mind, and human nature's impeccable ability to draw stereotypes for every type of person, can't we all be considered "bigots?" In Bill Cosby's short satire, "On Prejudice," this issue is concisely addressed and brought to it's knees through his use of sarcasm, and an ability to corner any stereotype by just simply bringing it to a clear, succinct truth. While many balked at the idea of racial prejudice and stereotypes during the 1970's, Cosby approached it with honesty and candor. His use of vulgar words, diffident body…

    A Rape On Campus Summary

Rolling Stone’s “A Rape on Campus” was one of the most scandalous journalism mistake ever seen. How a magazine such as Rolling Stone could publish an article that was a complete and total lie, is beyond me. In my opinion, Sabrina Erdely ignored many red flags that should have brought up some skepticism about the story she was reporting on. When Erdely first heard Jackie’s story she said, she remembered being “a bit incredulous” about the vividness of some of the details Jackie offered. This should have been the first red flag that something about this girl’s story was off, but Erdely believed that Jackie’s story was reliable so she continued. Another warning sign would be how Jackie was a “challenging source”. Not only would Jackie not respond to Erdely’s calls, texts and emails, but she also refused to release the name of the man who organized her attack. When Erdely finally did get the name of the man who had overseen her assault, Jackie was unsure how to spell his last name.…

This article provides further evidence that victim of the rape trial is judged on more than just if she was assaulted or not in that one instance. Disgustingly enough, when a sexual assault victim is put through a trial, it is their past that is being judged. Their sexual history, their wardrobe, and their overall personality is being tested for likability, with the whole process starting from the police deciding that the assault is “legitimate.” Despite having assaulted someone, the offender might be declared innocent because the jury did not find the behavior of the victim appropriate.
