Why Is The Death Penalty Wrong
Advocates of the death penalty say it is an important tool for preserving law and order, costs less than life behind bars and deters crime. They argue that retribution, "an eye for an eye" honors the victim and helps the family with closure. That it ensures that the perpetrators of these repulsive crimes never have an opportunity to cause future tragedy. Is that really justice though? If the goal of any punishment is to teach us those things we should not do, then the justice system should adequately teach the criminality of killing by refusing to partake in it.
The death penalty is wrong for so many reasons because not only is it a surrender to the worst in us, but people have the right to a civilized level of law and peace and the
