First of all, some school uniforms can be so uncomfortable that it is hard for the students to focus on school when all that they can think about is how uncomfortable they are, whether that be the uniform is itchy, the wrong size, etc. When kids are also uncomfortable they feel self conscious and I know from past experience, it is not easy to learn in school when all you can think about is your uniform. I know from my own knowledge that I do better obtaining information and focusing when I am comfortable in what I am wearing.

Many may say this but coming from my past experiences either in middle school and/or elementary school, kids nowadays don’t judge one another of the clothing others wear and if a case that it does happen there are better support systems now to help kids with these issues.
Lastly, I do not think schools should have a dress code because wearing what you like to wear is part of your identity, who you are, and if school prohibit that then all you have left of what people know you as is your name. Many people use clothing as a clue as to what different people like, even I can say I have used this many times. For example, if you see a kid wearing a tennis shirt for a team they play outside of school then you automatically know that they are into soccer, but without freedom of clothing then there is no way of knowing things like this.
In conclusion, I do not think that schools should have required school dress codes for three valid reasons, wearing your own clothing might be more comfortable, you can dress accordingly to the weather, and clothing gives you a way to express yourself to
