Although it is true that all criminals are not poor and the poor are not all criminals, it is the likelihood of people living in poverty to commit crimes that brings up the association. If we were having an economic crisis and were hitting rock bottom, with no roof over our heads, no food to eat how would we react? Throw into that picture a bunch of hungry children and loved ones, what would our reaction be then? It is true that there would be a percentage of us who would still manage to stand tall regardless of the probabilities, but it’s even truer most of us would succumb to the situation. People in poverty suffer not just economically, but they also suffer from lack of opportunities, lack of education, and lack of health care. Many people in developing countries are willing to work, but are not given the chance to do so and therefore remain in poverty. The lack of access to education and the jobs that supply little or no wages continue to make rising from poverty very difficult to achieve. Even when children are going to school, children in poverty often fail to get an adequate education due to the stress of deprivation. Since they have such a difficult time in the classroom, the kids fall into the poverty trap, in which their lack of education prevents any rise on the social ladder. This means that in addition to dealing with stress at home, children in poverty also have trouble remembering basic facts and instructions at school. Unable to stay on task, and struggling to keep up, their failure at school only adds to their stress
