Wisniewsk Strengths And Weaknesses

After reading the article, I think Wisniewska demonstrated many strengths and weaknesses during the Hurricane Irma situation. First, I think most importantly two of her strengths were making sure that she stayed updated as the storm became closer to Florida in addition to walking around the campus to check the status of situations that were going on with students. I believe that Wisniewska was very concerned enough about the students to go ahead and make the decision to cancel classes. She wanted the students to go ahead and evacuate before the storm got closer to them. However, President Genshaft thought differently. On the weakness side, I think there were some things Wisniewska could have done differently. I think that the communication between the two could have been between phone calls rather than emailing because it sometimes takes long for a response.
Another weakness I think that she had was lying to Genshaft about the situation after evacuating. She said that everyone was out of the building and dorms when there were students still there. Wisniewska left Florida to evacuate, leaving students’ lives in danger. Personally, I agree with President Genshaft about Wisniewska’s resignation Wisniewska does not have a level of responsibility that she should have knowing that she had thousands of students in her hands. It was wrong to lie and leave students in danger. Overall, I think there were several leadership implications in this article including, communication differently when there is an emergency intact and if you are a responsible leader then you need to remain a responsible one instead of leaving student’s behind while the leader
