Staff went to Mentoring Youth Children's Home 2700 1st Avenue, Columbus, Georgia 31904 on above noted date and time to pick up Cynnyia Tucker (13) for behavioral aide. Staff transported Cynnyia to Columbus Public Library to help her with her homework. After Cynnyia completed her homework, staff transported Cynnyia to Lake Bottom Park, 13th Street Columbus, Ga, where we remained for the rest of the behavioral aide visit. Staff encouraged Cynnyia to play basketball to promote a positive way to manage her anger by doing something she is interested in to relieve stress and negative emotions. Carolyn has been a part of Teen Parent Connection for 16 months. Carolyn previously worked as a school social worker in Chicago for three years. During that time she worked closely with teen parents. Meanwhile, Carolyn is a Family Support Worker within the Healthy Families Program at Teen Parent Connection. This means, Carolyn spends most of her time visiting teen parents and their children in their own home environment. During home visits Carolyn provides information, fun activities, and overall support to the parents and their children. Present at the meeting were WYP (Wraparound Youth Partner) Andy Ngo, WPP (Wraparound Parent Partner) Fara Farhand, SSW (Social Service Worker) Gary James, the youth, and the youth’s mother. Every SARB member introduced themselves to Monica and her mom. Monica stated being uncertain of the purpose for the meeting, but then was informed it was regarding her excessive absences. While listening to Monica present her case to the SARB members, I felt she was sincere, however, I learned that she struggled with prioritizing her duties. I felt as if Monica needed extra support understanding her priorities and the support wasn’t coming from mom. Although mom was cooperative and appeared concern, I felt she lacked being loving towards Monica. I was shocked to hear the sheriff officer explained Monica about the process involved and the possibility of pleading her case in front of a judge if she continue to miss school. I also learned the severity of a student’s excessive absences could potentially dictate her being placed in a juvenile detention. Monica’s mom was willing to cooperate with to get her to school on time. This is a certainly an issue to not be taken lightly, therefore, it was crucial for this group of people to intervene in hope that they could change this situation into a positive direction.…

By the time many alcohol and other drug abusers enter treatment they tend to manifest dysfunction in a variety of areas.
