Women's Argument Against Abortion
Today’s media, debates, and judicial courts are full of many hot topics. One that’s become inflamed among others in recent years is women’s rights, but more specifically, abortion rights or laws. To truly understand the argument for or against abortion, I will examine perspectives of abortion from religious views, The religious people of this country stand strong against abortion. Catholics are a huge group that stands against abortion. The campaign called The March for Life is the Catholics’ primary way to dissuade people from abortion. Their goal is to “make the world more welcoming for children. To accomplish this, they must be nimble, creative and above all motivated by love and compassion for mother and child.” They intend to: reach
out to families with disabled children because “many prospective parents now choose to terminate pregnancies if prenatal tests reveal Down syndrome or other genetic anomalies”, support adoption agencies because it is a life-giving choice, and attempt to improve childcare in the hopes that “more women would choose to raise a child if they knew that there were affordable options,” (The Way of Life 2012, 5) in an effort to discourage abortions. Christians even believe there are only 2 options. That “our human society is to be seen in Christian terms as a family with a loving father who is God, or as a factory-farm whose primary consideration must be the physical well-being of the livestock and the material well-being of the collectivity” (Muggeridge 2014, 76). To Christians, there is only the Christian way or the evil way. They firmly stand by their beliefs which greatly affects their views on abortion, which is heavily against it.
