I felt happy when I found out we are getting a new dog not just a regular dog a special dog it is a goldendoodle a smart dog. When we went to pick up are new dog it was a girl she was small fluffy and cute. She was straight black with a pouch of white on her chest and her front two paws. Since we were looking for a new dog my parents wanted a dog with not as much energy. We saw her in the back sitting by herself she was very calm and quiet.…
How helpful could be a dog in people’s life? Having pets could be a good chance for people to develop a family, especially if the couple can’t birth babies. Also, is an opportunity to get a better life with dignity and autonomy. For example, the blind can get a dog as their guide, and go wherever they need without people supervision. Old Yeller is an interesting and entertaining book because it teaches people about children and teenagers responsibilities, what important could be a pet in people’s life, and a good lesson of friendship and love between people and pets.…
Using random digit dialing, and national sample of 201 adults were called using a 30-45 minute telephone survey that looked at the effects of dog ownership plays in the lives of dog owners in the U.S. They found that single individuals gained greater benefit, specifically women associated with a greater well-being than men. The study did not show an association between dog ownership, and depression. However, pets do have a positive influence on health & well-being (Garrity & Stallones, 1998). Dog ownership has been associated with lower depression among women, but not men (Risman, 1998).…
Purdue University states that “The Human-Animal bond is the dynamic relationship between people and animals in that each influences the psychological or physiological state of the other” (“Center”). The Human-Animal bond is essential to the well-being of society. Animals can affect people in many different ways, specifically by providing companionship. This bond has existed for thousands of years, though people’s relationship with animals is much different today than it was in the past. The main reason that the relationship has changed is the concept of owning pets, which is relatively new (Reinisch). The concept of pet ownership has changed the way people see animals because instead of thinking of animals as…
Originally my family got Willow, our dog, for my sister Meredith. The goal was to train her to be a service dog. At first I thought Willow was only for my sister, it turns out she helps everyone in our family! When someone gets hurt she comes and licks…
Audience Identification: For you all, that have a dog you know that feeling of being cared for and loved. You know that you can just go home and relax with your dog and forget about the bad day you might have had.…
DOG is a sweet story of friendship that blossoms into a full-fledge story of beauty. Daniel Pennac has made this story of relation between pet and owner into away of understanding pets.…
Max was my best friend. He was a very lively golden retriever with a golden brown body and a white chest. My father got the dog before I was born, and just when he meets my mom. I remember feeding him table scraps and my mom getting mad because he shouldn’t have table scraps. When I was 3 years old he would snuggle with me before I went to bed, but after I got a bunk bed then he would just sleep on the floor of my room. My sister didn’t really get to see him much because he was still a baby when he had to be put down.…
“And very little is known about these free-ranging, village dogs.” His team rectified that by collecting blood samples from 549 village dogs in 38 countries across 6 continents. “I did my Ph.D. work with tropical butterflies; by comparison, working with dogs is fantastic,” he adds. “You don’t need to hunt them down with a net. You show up, you have food, there are dogs.” (http://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2015/10/genetic-study-writes-yet-another-origin-story-for-dogs/411196/) Dogs have always been considered “Mans Best Friend.” However that title has barely lived up to it’s name when there are still dogs all around the world that get abused and murdered by their owners. Dogs who get dropped off in the middle of nowhere because their owners just can’t keep up with them anymore. Dogs who are euthanized because they’ve been in the pound so long and there is no hope for them to ever be rescued, may that be because of old age or even a history of biting people. Dogs are not born monsters, humans created the idea. Dogs may hurt you because of their past experiences with lousy…
When I was in first grade, my mother finally relented and bought my sister a dog, a tiny, black Cockapoo puppy she named “Pepper”. Allison had wanted one for a long time and her pleas were duly noted after she tried to bring our cousin’s dog back to Maryland with us. The tantrum on the way home when her plans failed was the tipping point. A year passes and my mother loves Pepper so much so she wants another dog. There was an unspoken agreement that this second dog would be mine. A day's trip back to the breeder in Virginia and we learned there weren’t many Cockapoo puppies left to choose from. My parents idea to get a white one and name it “Salt” were, understandably, put on hold. Nevertheless, I examined the few puppies left and choose one…
I was never a dog lover. My kids always wanted a dog. I dug my heels in but eventually, they wore me down with chorus’ of “please can we get a dog?” Begrudgingly, I began looking for a dog. It was to be a Christmas present for my kids, an older dog, a trained dog. I knew that I did not have the patience for training and I knew that when kids say they will help; I knew exactly what that meant.…
It touched my heart so much because over the years, we have had 2 dogs that have passed. It is a very emotional time and I think that in this poem where he states “And my wife called in a voice imperious with tears (John Updike, 1958)”, tells how much the dog was loved by his owners. It starts when you first bring the puppy home and go through the training process. The love grows unconditionally. Like the poem states, “Too young to know much, she was beginning to learn (John Updike, 1958), she didn’t know any better to stay away from the street, so there for by being kicked or brushed by a car, no one will ever know. The puppy only knows that when she’s good, she gets praised, so she tries to impress its owners.…
Sharp, fast gasps and a swift pointing finger always proceeds when I spot a dog. An excitable, breathy, “Dog!” escapes my mouth and I always scurry over to the dog’s owner and asks if I can pet them. I’ve owned two dogs in my lifetime, and lived with another. I’m what some people would call a dog person. So for some, it might be unsurprising to find out that I credit a lot of how I am to dogs.…
Growing up, I always wanted a dog. I remember my mom telling me that they were too much trouble and I was too immature to actually take care of one. However, through the power of persuasion, I eventually talked her into getting me one. My first dog, was a rescue mutt, named Jethro that we brought home. He was a very sweet dog but he also had a lot of playfulness in him. He was a little too big for me and would jump on top of me and knock me over. My parents were worried that he would hurt me, so, unfortunately, we had to bring him back. My second dog, Lucky, was also a rescue but he was a border collie. I remember very vividly, the day we brought him home, it was raining and he was very nervous…
So as a child I have had pets, all different types of pets. I’ve had fish, frogs, and my most favorite dogs. My first dogs name was Tank named after myself as that was my nickname growing up playing little league football. And oh yes I was a heck of a football player. He was a chow and pit bull mix, quite big in my eyes. He was a very caring a loving dog. My dad brought me to the pound that summer day and I was sold on him. I taught Tank how to shake my hand and dance as well. Tank unfortunately passed away due to him eating some poisonous plants in the neighbor’s backyard. It took me a long time to get over that as an 8 year old boy who just lost his best friend. But I moved on eventually and named my next three dogs Tank in honor of him.…
