A Close-Look at Work-Life Balance in Millennials vs. Boomers
Millennials and Baby Boomers have different views on leisure and time off, which can be furthers referred as “Work-Life” balance. Work-life balance is mainly comprised of the time spent on work and life, the flexible time, the wellness program and community involvements. As work-life balance become more important in current workplace, employers and recruiters pay more attention on balancing the work-life relationship, especially for Millennials, who will take main part of the workplace. As usual, when I opened my e-mail the first thing on Monday morning, I noticed my boss Stevehad sent me quite of a few e-mail over the passing weekend. I left out a sign and wondered when Steve could tear himself away from his work. Steve is a typical Baby Boomer (born between 1946 and 1964), who takes extreme ownership of his work and works diligently in a competitive corporate culture. Compared to one bread-earning spouse in the traditional family back in baby boomers’ time, Millennials face the situation that young couples, are both working fulltime, who are burdened with family duties including childcares and senior cares.
