This is heartbreaking to my cause and to my goals. To me, a person who can figure out how to have multiple responsibilities and roles is a person with a sharp mind and great organizational skills. Still, Bias against mothers in employment decisions has often been explained by the assumption that mothers are less committed and competent than fathers and nonparents (Eggen, 2012). In the Netherlands a study was done to try to break up traditional gender roles to allow working mothers and fathers to break up parental duties. The study proved that women were applauded for attempted to "do it all" but men who tried to do housework, parental duties and work were punished socially. Traditional roles of men were obviously being focused on. Maybe housework and diaper changes are "below" men? It is strange to me that women who work are considered privileged to get the opportunity but men must not dare step out of their masculinity. This shows me the importance society puts on masculinity and the disrespect femininity gets. No matter which type of discrimination is experience, I think it is socially very important to try to break the mold. Discrimination and oppression should no longer be a rule- it should be an exception. While I believe every person has an impact on societal changes, large companies like Yahoo appointing a female CEO is helping us step in the right direction. I hope I be a part of the change. I know I am capable of what any man is capable of- plus
