The natural world was formed by God through his words. He spoke the universe and everything in it into existence. We know this because we believe the Bible is a revelation of God and not just a book written purely by human hands. In Romans 1:20 Paul writes, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” God has shown himself through creation. He has made everything and shows those that spit in His face with their sin himself so that they know there is a God and that that same God created everything. They have no excuse when they stand in front of His judgment seat because they saw Him, but didn’t receive Him.
Our human identity is both found in knowing Christ and knowing our true nature. We are made in God’s image (Gen 1:27), so when we are joined to our Father in spiritual union through His son Jesus (Rom 7:25a) again we find who we are as people because we have fellowship with Him who made us. We see that we are not righteous whatsoever (Rom 3:10) and that we don’t seek God (Rom 3:11). In essence we are totally destitute within ourselves. There is something wrong with us that we cannot fix, so we need Jesus to justify, sanctify and glorify us (Rom 8:30). We need all three so that we will be connected again with Christ, live a life
