I believe the study and awareness of a person’s birth order in the family can be useful information during certain researches. Everyone has a birth type, it is not shocking that many people have developed and understood theories regarding birth order and personality. Firstborn is the experimental child. They are held to a higher standard. They do not like surprises. They are natural leaders. Once in an interview Dr. Leman said “There’s not a firstborn living that hasn’t had their mom or dad say to them, I don’t care what she did, you are the oldest.”(Walcutt, 2009) Second born children are completely differently than the oldest. Middle children are usually secretive and often call themselves the black sheep of the family. The youngest child is very manipulative, outgoing, a people person. Younger children are often risk takers in life and are always up for a challenge. Only children are almost the same as first borns. Dr. Leman said they are little adults by the age of seven. An only child have downfalls, they do not get alone with other children their age very well, they rather be around older children or an adult that they can cling to. They do very well in life, and they become very successful in the career that they chose. Your birth order can regulate the type of person you become. Birth order research has a large focus on relation to intelligence and educational achievement. Some research in this area show that birth order effects are inextricably related to family size. Your birth order can have an impact on the type of person you are, what type of companion you feel comfortable with and which type of job you will have. No person is bound to certain traits just because of their placement. Each birth order had its own set of advantages and disadvantages. I am a middle child. I have an older sister, brother and two younger brothers. The two oldest were pretty close while we were growing up, and my two younger brothers are still close. I really was…

This showed true during my interviews with both parents. These differences could be because the first child born was for the most part an only child until age 5. The type of social interaction this child experienced was childcare settings, neighbors, and family. When the child was younger they were more physically aggressive towards the sibling they had. While the new generation child is rather easy going unless provoked by a sibling. Possibly due to there now being more people involved in this child's family than the now older one had. The parent tries to educate the youngest child on emotions, and teaching them self control. While the other parent did not work actively on emotions with the now older child. The young child moves on quickly with their feelings, unlike the older child whom use to hold on to their emotions and dealt with them rather aggressively. When interviewing Keith, he stated that his family is actively involved with the church, library activities, and attend various parties. While Shawna recalled mostly having her child participate in organized sports during specific seasons, and Girl Scouts. Both engaged the child in social surroundings, but one more formal and forced than…

Parents treat children of different age and gender differently, which leads to the trends that birth order researcher have built their theories off. Generally, firstborns are viewed as ambitious, assertive, controlling, and reliable (Zupek). These characteristics are caused by being raised in an environment consisting of mostly adults. By being raised in an adult based environment, firstborns are viewed as “mini-adults.” Middle children tend to be peacemakers, negotiators, easy-going, and thrive on friendship (Zupek). Middle children possess these characteristics because they live in their older sibling’s shadow. Parents normally pay more attention to the high achieving oldest child or the baby of the family causing the middle child to feel left out or unwanted. Due to this lack of attention middle children tend to center their lives around friends and not family because their friends notice them and make them feel wanted. Lastborns are known to be charming, creative, self-centered, and manipulative (Zupek). By the last child, parents tend to have a more relaxed parenting style. The relaxed nature of the parents cause the rules to become flexible and less enforced. Lastborn children may take advantage of this by pushing the limit because they know their parents will look the other way. Also, lastborns may want and expect others to assist…

In everyday life you will find that some people are bigger and/or better than you in certain fields. Also in everyday life people like to use their age for their own good. In a household of siblings there are certain advantages that are giving by age. Older siblings are aware of these advantages and abuse them to the fullest. I believe that in households like that a child’s growth can be stunt permanently and, affect them in the long run. I personally hate being the youngest and I’m sure many others feel the same way. In households were parents are aware of the instability they should take action right away. Some parents aren’t aware of these things and let them slide by. These advantages cause many problems and may become fatal. I am tired of the disadvantages of being the youngest.…

Several differences occurred between children in one-child family and children with sisters and brothers by the factor which is called parents. First of all, all the love would be given by the parents who are in one-child family to the children, however it is difficult for parents to give the same love to every child in large family. Nevertheless, love is not always positive, children might be hurt by love. Second, children who have no siblings will become more and more confident and doing things without any worries while brothers and sisters will think whether the things are correct or not. If the confidence becomes over-confidence the only child will be failed, but if the confidence is not enough, anything will not be done possibly. Therefore, the children in only child family may become over-confidence and children in large family will become less confidence. Finally, difference of reliability between children in one-child family and children in large family is that children in one-child family will rely on everything however children in large family will do everything themselves. In one-child family, parents will do everything for the only child just because the family only has one child. Nevertheless, large families will force their children do everything…

Many people believe that a child's placement in the family, such as oldest, youngest, or middle kid, influences the character traits of the child. The youngest child is usually the most easily spoiled and is more likely to be the popular kid or the lead clown in a group of kids. The only child tends too have problems with sharing, the oldest is always bossy, the youngest is always spoiled, and the middle kid is just stuck in the middle. I like to think of it there were right and left extremes. On the right extreme, there is the older child: bossy, and with less freedom. On the left extreme is the youngest child: spoiled, just a little baby sometimes. And then there's the middle kid: He/she's just somewhere in the middle, between all the bossiness and babyish traits.…

As Dr. Leman, the middle child does get fewer pages in this book than the other birth orders. One reason for this is that the psychologists don’t know that much about middle children, they are, in fact, a bit mysterious. Whatever personality traits have been adopted by the first born child, the second child will become the opposite. The first two kids in any family are night and day different as Dr, Leman middle children often play the role of peacekeeper in the family, mediating between the older and younger siblings. They have strong social skills and get along well with others. Because middles often feel like fifth wheels that are out of place at home, so no wonder, friends become very important to them.…

In my life, birth order doesn't actually affect me that much as "LWFC" does for Tita (I am the youngest), but it still has some negative effects. Firstly, I am expected to do more than my brother. Since my brother is the one doing my mistakes, my parents think I should be able to learn from them and move on. This is probably the worst part of being the youngest, as it forces me to be better than someone who is already pretty well-behaved. Next, I am also given hand-me down and am not allowed to waste them. Instead of being able to buy my own clothes, my parents believe I should help save up by wearing my brother's. This doesn't really allow me to wear what I want. In conclusion, for me, being the youngest isn't really…

There are lot of pressures for most of them in the world, but being the youngest child in the family could also be one the biggest pressure for some of them in their life. Being the youngest child in the family could be of more disadvantage than advantages. The disadvantage of being the youngest child is, no one really cares what the child does. Because the fact that the youngest child is not been given attention, they has to think and do everything for themselves without any proper guidance and motivation. As the matter of fact it has been an unidentified pressure for many people who are the youngest child in their family. Being the youngest child, parents start to eliminate the child’s opinions in family matters, thinking that the child could not possibly understand or is not mature enough to give an opinion about family matters. No matter how old the youngest child is they are always young to everything and everyone in the family. Due to lack of motivation and support to the youngest child they start to lose self-confidence and will not be able to achieve their goals or passion in their life. Being the youngest sibling is also a big pressure, because no matter what the elder siblings do they get the appreciated and the young one’s get depreciated. Even though the fault is the elder sibling’s, parents blame the youngest child for even just getting know the mistake done by the elder. The youngest always end up depressed at the end of each and every day, because he is always immature to everyone in the family and don’t have time to care for him. As the matter of fact being the youngest child could be the reason why they end up living lonely all the time. As per the survey of depressed children, they mostly are the youngest one the family. The survey also shows that children who are in the dormitories and living outside their home.…
