Young nation builder event planning essay
Group Essay When we were first placed into Young Nation Builders as our respective stream for our service learning earlier this year, many of us were dreading the thought of taking on an entirely new workload, out of our already hectic schedules. By March, all of us in Young Nation Builders had been allocated different events that were to be planned for our college community and even those outside of it. As for the four members of our group, we were assigned to plan a collegiate level debate event with the collaboration of other Young Nation Builder members as well as the highly experienced debate club. For all four of us, this task was our first experience with planning an event. Initially we thought of our duties as simply a chore, and we showed little interest. But over the course of the two months we spent planning this event, each one of us became more rooted to our responsibilities and we had learned to appreciate this opportunity we were given to gain such valuable experience in this field of event planning. Throughout this course, we were faced with a discouraging array of challenges, of which we have taken back numerous valuable life lessons from. Teamwork, responsibility and determination top the list, as these values were what kept us going even when the going got rough. For example, the amount of participants joining the debate competition was very disappointing. The debate competition was on the verge of failing. However, with our strong determination, we were able to pull it through successfully. Asides from the lack of participants, we were also faced with a budget problem which restricted us a lot. The budget which is allocated to us is only sufficient for food and drinks. The budget didn’t include much of the prizes. Therefore we decided to decrease the cash prizes in return for lower registration fees. With our precise planning of our budget allocation only then we were able to pull it through. This has trained our organization

The event was successful, however I feel the Society can increase student patiicipation significantly. I believe tangible prize in conjunction with the gold, silver, and platinum status awards will increase student pmiicipation. For example students reaching platinum status receives at-shirt; students reaching gold status receives a key chain; and students reaching silver status receives a logo pen or pencil. The Society can use sponsorship funds to purchase the prizes. I believe the prize expense is insignificant compared to the additional student participation resulting in our ultimate goal to increase donations to support our funy friends in our…

Throughout my academia, I have been a member of several clubs and organizations, but have yet to attend a free leadership and service conference. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars needs a free in-person event that hosts a multitude of workshops from becoming a better member, to becoming a better leader and more. This event should be a two-day weekend long including update meetings on how the organization is accomplishing its endeavors and goals in terms of membership count, influence in the community, and upcoming events. During a workshop, we could bring in experts to discuss how to become a better writer to increase our chances of earning NSCS scholarships and other scholarships. In another workshop, our members and club leaders…

We Day is an annual "youth empowerment" event organized by the Free the Children charity. Held in cities across Canada and the United States, We Day motivates youth to take action on local and global issues. Since 2007, thousands of Canadian students have attended We Day events, which feature speeches and performance from global leaders, social activists and public figures.I think that my attendance at WE Day 2014 will have a positive impact on our school this year because I believe that if I go, I will be able to take information and bring it back to the school and try to make a change, locally and even globally. I believe that this is a huge opportunity. This conference is very beneficial because it is a student-lead conference. It allowed us, students to use our voice and speak up. At the video we watched, I realized how important it is to use your voice in a positive way to help people. You don’t only need to use your voice; you can get your message out in any way, media, arts or verbally. I learned that student voice is important because, we are the ones who are the future to making our world a better place.…

Organization: The program went smoothly with some exceptions. A problem that the members encountered was that the glue they provided didn’t stick to the fabric for the stuffed hearts. This hindered people from being able to finish their hearts. We had to wait for staplers to finish making the hearts, which was what the event was centered and focused on. In addition to that, with that obstacle, a lot of time was wasted, and we had to be rushed out of the room because other people reserved the room. Moreover, I feel like holding the event for one hour wasn’t enough time for the participants to circulate around the different craft stations and fully engage in each activity. The club members weren’t really organized because they didn’t test out making the hearts before presenting them to us. Both the club members and participants were going through a learning process together, which is not necessarily terrible. However, I do feel like the club members should have been a little more prepared. Aside from that, the event went well and was still engaging and…
