Zeus And Hera Essay

Americans today are delaying marriage or not getting married at all according to statistics. The average age that adults are marrying now is twenty-six for women and twenty-eight for men. Of those people who get married the likeliness that their marriage will end up in a divorce is around forty to fifty percent. For those who decide to remarry the divorce rate is at sixty percent. Not only does marriage seem like a struggle for some Americans, but marriage was also a struggle for the Greek god Zeus and the Greek goddess Hera. Before Zeus married Hera he had six previous wives before her. Just like the sixty percent of people whose second marriage will end in divorce, Zeus’ second marriage (and third, fourth, fifth, and sixth!) marriage did not work out either. Anyways, when Zeus married Hera they had a big celebration to celebrate their marriage and their guest brought them gifts. Still today when people attend weddings they bring gifts for the bride and groom. However, at weddings today people will usually give the couple kitchen and bathroom accessories unlike the gifts that were given to Zeus and Hera. One of the gifts that Hera received was a tree given to her by her grandmother Gaia.
Although Hera is the goddess of both childbirth and marriage, she never had a happy marriage herself. After she and Zeus

Hera then resulted in making the decision to take the side of the Greeks in the Trojan War.
