A Civil Action written by Jonathan Harr is the theatrical story telling of drama, emotion, truth, manipulation and twist and turn. Justice system is closely monitored in this book with the help of court case and lawsuit. A Civil Action tries to unfold the story of corporate power and how it affects the average American families of Woburn who fought for their justice. In the book, A Civil Action, the author, Jonathan Harr, portrays the dark side of our justice system. It's one of the best works of Jonathan Harr. He portrays the true story of Woburn families who files the lawsuit against two big companies Beatrice Foods and W.R Grace but because of their corporate power, truth gets manipulated and the lawsuit became lengthy. The book portrays the power of money and how justice is taken for granted by the powerful people of the society. The story starts with the character called Anne Anderson who finds out about Leukemia. She starts doing research about it and finally she discovers the truth behind Leukemia. She found out that other children from the neighborhood are also affected from leukemia. After discussing the issue with other families in town they found out the town drinking water had been breached with several chemicals that were dumped and absorbed from local businesses. Anna wanted the justice for her child who died of leukemia and other families of Woburn whose children’s were affected from Leukemia. She went to many places for help but nobody fully believed on her and ignored her on the basis of valid proof of support. But later when other families also encountered leukemia then they decided to take a legal action against Beatrice Foods and W.R Grace. The case went to Joe Mulligan which he later hand over to Jan Schlichtmann, one of the main characters of the story.
