Finally, selecting positive team members can have a contagion effect because positive moods transmit from team member to team member

Emotions and positive moods appear to facilitate effective decision making and creativity.
● Recent research suggests mood is linked to motivation, especially through feedback. Leaders rely on emotions to increase their effectiveness.
● The display of emotions is important to social behavior like negotiation and customer service.
● The experience of emotions is closely linked to job attitudes and behaviors that follow from attitudes, such as deviant workplace behavior.

Our final managerial implication is a question: can managers control colleagues’ and employees’ emotions and moods? Certainly there are limits, practical and ethical. I thought the City of Embers was a good book. It was a race against time before the whole city will go black. In the beginning of the book it was boring but when Lina and Doon discovered that there was a way out of the city that’s when the story became exciting. I like when Lina and Doon switched jobs because they were better for the job the other one had. I like the science fiction part and that the book was set in the future. There was adventure and danger when Lina, Doom and Poppy went down the river and climbed those rocks.…

I completely agree with the sentiment that, “feelings and emotions are the true drivers of employee loyalty, innovation, and productivity…and therefore produce the most optimal workplace performance”. It’s the old adage, which so often is dismissed by those more cynical, that how you treat others, is how they treat you, and Jim Goodnight has tapped right into this level of human consciousness. The stats are compelling, SAS “experiences annual [employee] turnover in the range of 2-3% compared to an industry average of 22%”, and for 37 consecutive years has had record earnings, $2.8 billion in 2012.…

Many people have different kinds of people to be an effective leader, for example when you ask someone who they think can be an effective leader you’ll be surprised by what some people say. Some will even say that Adolf Hitler was an effective leader and if you really think about it he was. Hitler had the power to influence others and lead a whole army of Nazis. He was able to convince them that they were justified in the killing of innocent people. Hitler guided his army to do exactly what he wanted, how he wanted it. Also, he could empower someone because he knew that he taught the people so well that he wouldn’t have a problem with his army being a failure.
