Experiences that Changed my Life
None of my problems are different from other people’s problems. However, what I believe is that some of them should not come too fast in anybody’s life; they can change lives completely for good or for bad. Furthermore, there are two things I consider that they came too fast in my life, but also there is one that came in the right moment. I am learning how to deal, live, and learn from them. In addition, I know each of them have a reason for why they happened. Also, those things have taken me in the place I am right now. And, although two of them are tough hits in my life, I am glad they happened, because they made me see life differently now. In addition, those things are the ones that make me stronger each day.
First it all, one of the tough hits happened to me at the age of 12 years old. This was the divorce of my mother and my father. To be honest, I was happy that they were separating from each other. I didn’t want to see my father put a hand on my mother again. Furthermore, due to my father abuse against my mother, she wanted to commit suicide. She used to tell me that she would be happy if she was dead. I wish I never have heard those words because they hurt a lot when I remember them. In addition, I believe those words hit me harder than the scene of seeing my father hitting my mother. However, that divorce changed my life for better. It made me grow fast as a person, and it made me more mature.
The second tough hit that came to my life fast was the death of my sister. As a result of her death, I fell in a big deep depression. I didn’t want to eat or hang out with my friends. Furthermore, I was just thinking in ending my life. And despite that death brought me sadness; it also brought me my mother. I say this because when my mother and my father got divorce, so my mother decided to came to United States. She wanted a better life for my siblings and I. Furthermore, she did what she promised, but she forgot something

I remember the night my dad left like it was yesterday, and I don’t think I will ever forget. I don’t remember what exactly it was that made him so mad but I’m sure my sister and I were fighting like sisters do. My only really vivid memory of that night was my dad hitting me so hard he left bruise marks on my backside. I could hear my mom and dad fighting so I knew my mom saved me again. Then my dad got really mad at her and he grabbed her by the shoulders and shoved her into the pantry door so hard that both my mom and the pantry door came crashing to the floor. When I got up for school the next morning my dad was gone. Some children aren’t as lucky though and Child Protective Services has to remove them from a bad situation.…

As I was growing up I would always try to break free, from all the violence going on around my neighborhood. After graduating elementary school, I saw the world entirely differently. Entering my sophomore year in high school I began to get caught up with the kids outside of my school. My grandmother came from Dominican Republic in 2010. She was my back bone for my motivation. The relationship I had with her was unbreakable. In 2012 all that was taken away from me when she passed away. I was so devastated that I thought my world ended I was in disbelief. The world took a pause until I took it all in. I was in such pain that all I wanted to do was hurt everyone else around me. I felt empty. A black cloud was over me that day and for the rest of the year. I decided to stop attending school. I found no reason to keep going on in life anymore. This was the worst low imaginable; now I needed time to figure myself out without my grandma.…

A new day can also liberate us from our past mistakes and provide us with a chance to change our ways. We are all faced with misery and misfortune at points in our lives, some more than others. We must recognize that it is not the burden in itself that shapes who we are, but how well or how poorly we deal with the difficulties. Sometimes misfortunes can be seen in a negative light; because it seems unjust, therefore we response in a negative matter, and become negligent to change. Overcoming tragic events is what truly counts, for we are meant to live happily and in acceptance that there are things that we cannot change. An experience that forever changed my life is when I first heard the mantra that would become one I live by.
