Sierra Boggess: An Experience That Changed My Life
An experience that forever changed my life is when I first heard the mantra that would become one I live by. Sierra Boggess is an amazingly talented, kind and inspirational Broadway actress she has originated the role of Airel in The Little Mermaid, and is all that I ever wanted to be as a person, beautiful, hilarious, positive and other qualities that I admire. She has a mantra, that is "You are enough, You are so enough, its unbelievable how enough you are." The first time I heard that it was as if my life was altered and the entire cosmic universe had shifted. This was a statement that was an answer to doubts that I had deep within myself. My deepest fear was not being good enough and that fear had impacted everything in my life. As a performing

Today I left for Yosemite with my friends and our parents. It took us about 5 hours to get to get there. We took about 10 stops on the way. When we arrived I popped open the trailer and too a nice long nap because we got up at 3 am and left at 4 am. After my nap I met up with a couple of friends who were also staying in the campsites next to us who were also taking naps . We went hiking to Yosemite Falls with a guide to watch the water flow down. It was beautiful and there was a sunset which made it even prettier. Our guide who led us there told us we should make a list to follow every day we were staying. We asked what were the greatest thing to see. He said Half Dome, Ansel Adams Gallery Tuolumne Meadows, Mist Trail and Vernal Fall,Glacier…

The transformational experience that I will use for my example is very personal. I used to be in a very abusive marriage. My marriage was damaging to me as a person, and damaging to my children because it prohibited me from making anything of myself. I would always make excuses for my lack of productivity, stating that I couldn’t do anything with my life because my husband wouldn’t let me. Finally, in 2011, I realized that I was wasting my life. The only thing that my daughter was ever going to learn from me, was how to let someone else run there life and impact her choices. We would never have had a normal life! When I realized what I was doing to myself and to my kids, I knew that I had a significant problem. I confronted the problem, and I was very intense about it. I tried marriage counseling, personal counseling, and biblical counseling. I tried talking with my ex, and I sought advice from many people whom I really believed could help. After exhausting my resources, I knew that the only logical solution was to take my children out of the abusive situation and start from scratch. I chose to go first to the police for help, and then to battered women’s shelter. The women’s shelter helped us to move away and…

An event I've experienced that was life changing was when I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. It was an affirmation of years of disciplined work and study to have such a prestigious honor bestowed upon me. In scouting, I developed various moral and ethical tenants that have shaped my foundation in life. Tenants like integrity, honor, reverence, faith in God, a man's role and his responsibility to his family, and a nearly innumerable quantity of experiences growing under the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America have molded me into who I am today in my very core of being. The realization of my dream to become an Eagle Scout took 11 years to obtain, so I'm no stranger to adversity or perseverance. To my memory,…

An experience that has significantly transformed me into the person I am today are the beginning years of my cheer “career.” The first three years were the most difficult that i have faced throughout the nine years I have cheered in total. I was not the most athletic, skinniest, or skillful cheerleader there can be. Also since i was new to the cheer world, as all cheerleaders call it, I didn't have as many friends. As time went on I slowly started to get the hang of things and what went on with this new sport. My coaches always punished me in everything I did. I had to prove myself to everyone that I can be just like them and nothing less.…

Something difficult I have gone through that changed me. Although, in the beginning it was extremely difficult to cope, I believe this experience changed me for the better. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Being the oldest of three in a broken family has forced me to become a role model, and taught me to take on large responsibilities. I learned how to use my independence for the better of my siblings. I learned how to cope with difficult people, I learned how to put on a happy face, I learned how to leave my family life at home. I learned how to be happy with my friends and at school. I learned how to smile through the day, ultimately being content with my life. I gained the strength to look at the pros and not the cons. This unfortunate situation has caused me to become a more positive person. If I could give one piece of advice to…

Although I am only 18, many events in my life have changed the outlook I have on life for better or worse. I would have to say one experience I had in my high school years took both outlooks and tied them into one. Freshmen year I attended a small catholic school in Florida. Not being too excited about attending, my parents insisted because it was closer than the other local Catholic High School. Being extremely unhappy all year I think I learned my first invaluable trait: If you don’t look on the bright side of things no one else is going to for you. Although unhappy, I was fortunate enough to attend private school. Giving into my pleas, my parents transferred me to the other local catholic school sophomore year. Even though the transfer was what I wanted, the change was hard. From school to school, the caliber of person was a world of difference. I had to learn to relate to a whole new group of people. The best thing that came out of my sophomore year was joining my schools speech and debate team. Speech and debate has changed my life in so many ways. It has crafted me to be a more outgoing person, a more informed citizen and a better friend. Participating in this activity has forced me to leave my comfort zone more than once, and see what others are like from all over. I would have to say sophomore year I learned the 2nd trait I value: adaptability. Between school, speech and debate and trying to make friends I had to conform to a completely new way of life only my second year into high school. Unfortunately, the summer of my junior year my parents decided to move us to Georgia. Devastated, I now attended my third school in three years. Feeling alone and not knowing what to do, I once again turned to my favorite thing, Speech and debate. My school in Florida had a very large Speech and debate team, and my new school in Georgia had a very small team. Reluctantly, I made the best of the situation at hand. I quickly proved I had knowledge on the activity and was…

When I was five, I met a man that would change my life forever. The first time I saw him, he was laying tile at our house which at the time was under construction. I watched as he very eloquently laid mortar and tile in a way that I had never seen before. Soon he sat down with my dad and I and asked us if we would like to come down to his cabin with him and go fishing. I jumped at the opportunity and in two weeks we were driving from Austin to Corpus Christi. I did not know it then, but this man, Melvin Miller would end up defining almost all of the principles I have today. This first time, I learned about the water and protecting the environment, but I also learned the difference between right and wrong but more importantly how to work hard. It may sound like these trips to this cabin are difficult or stressful but they are quite the opposite. Infact, when I come back from a trip to the cabin, I am more relaxed than ever and ready to work hard.…
