I remember once one of my teachers said to me " you can't change people, but you either accept who they are or start living without them." I learned not to let anyone effect me. I certainly think that my experience in life gives me strength and makes a better me today. Overall, high school experience has been a very challenging and confusing experience but helpful. It taught me many things academically and emotionally and now I feel confidence and ready for any obstacle I may face. My experience in life have shaped, defined my character and made me the mature person I am…
For school, the thing that has changed was my grades have improved so that I was able to get principal's list. My life has changed because I have found out about my true friends and my “fake” friends. The ones that I know more outside of school are my true friends but the ones that I don’t talk to at all is different. This helped me change the way I look at people and kinda prejudge. But hopefully this habit will just go away with time.…
This can have effects on our character, our beliefs, and the name we make for ourselves. As I pave my way to college and the real world, I have personally experienced an epiphany about how my family and the people around me have impacted me and prepared me for life beyond high school. The life lessons and experiences I have gained from others are more valuable than any amount of…
An event I've experienced that was life changing was when I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. It was an affirmation of years of disciplined work and study to have such a prestigious honor bestowed upon me. In scouting, I developed various moral and ethical tenants that have shaped my foundation in life. Tenants like integrity, honor, reverence, faith in God, a man's role and his responsibility to his family, and a nearly innumerable quantity of experiences growing under the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America have molded me into who I am today in my very core of being. The realization of my dream to become an Eagle Scout took 11 years to obtain, so I'm no stranger to adversity or perseverance. To my memory,…
When I sat down to write this essay I was trying to think of some big experience that had changed my life. However as I kept thinking and thinking about this I got a much bigger idea. I figured out that a lot of small things over time can add up to create a big experience in your life. So for me this happened with one of the most inspirational people in my life so far my Social Studies teacher, Ms. Skinner.…
The day I got accepted into CSN high school led to two years of personal growth, intellectual advancement, a new understanding of others and myself, and college readiness. I was able to get ahead in my education compared to most students my age. I became ready for college and for a more mature environment. I had a time where I had to develop a new understanding for my self. I would have to act as an adult and be more mature with all the freedom the college environment offered. Luckily going to college wont be scary because I know what to expect and I have two years of…
At an early age, I became fully aware of the importance of social justice and the correlation that activism had in combating social issues. I learned how much societal complexes directly affect our lives, and how that can make you're life a lot easier or a lot…
Things that I have learned so far about high school is that the more you will realize who your friends are they will really start showing you their “true colors”. Furthermore balancing the workload is a very hard task because you have extra curriculum and other responsibilities dealing with your household. Being in high school you aren't going to get pampered or a teacher constantly coming to you, tell you that you have work due , missing assignments , being in class on time and keeping up with your grades . Also , I have learned that you shouldn't wait unit the last minute to turn work in or ask for extra credit , most certainty you shouldn't wait until the day before the due date to turn in your assignments . By having other classes that will be due…
The beginning of my freshman year in high school changed my life. I had set many types of goals for myself this year including making friends, helping others and being a part of the most incredible organization, Blue Guards. Blue Guards is apart of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oxon Hill High School. Blue Guards was not only a drill team, it was a family, a family of girls and boys working together, leading others, having discipline, and respecting each other as a team. Walking into the first day of school knowing I was going to be part of this team made me light up like a light bulb.…
My journey from Pakistan to America, basically describes my life as an Asian girl. I came to America, when I was 14 years old child. My family moved to America from Pakistan because of my good education. My family have so many expectations from me, because I am the oldest one in my family. I have 2 sisters and one brother after my oldest sister got married.…
I learned the value of myself as a person, I became able to determine what was important and what I needed to let go. I learned that I had friends, and I learned to have a voice. A voice that learned to stick up for others who were bullied. I learned not to let others control my emotions and that it was crucial to stand up for myself and refuse to be treated poorly. I understood to demonstrate respect for myself. I realized that you can’t control another person’s attitudes or actions, but you can control your reactions.…
The fact that I never was the type to give up showed and reflected throughout everything that has happened in my life. Also, I do not give up in the classroom even if the work is difficult or unmanageable. I do not like leaving work unfinished, but I do whatever it takes to complete it. Not only in the classroom does my attitude help me out, but also when it comes to family and friends. Family and friends mean everything to me and I will do anything to make things right between us.…
Something difficult I have gone through that changed me. Although, in the beginning it was extremely difficult to cope, I believe this experience changed me for the better. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Being the oldest of three in a broken family has forced me to become a role model, and taught me to take on large responsibilities. I learned how to use my independence for the better of my siblings. I learned how to cope with difficult people, I learned how to put on a happy face, I learned how to leave my family life at home. I learned how to be happy with my friends and at school. I learned how to smile through the day, ultimately being content with my life. I gained the strength to look at the pros and not the cons. This unfortunate situation has caused me to become a more positive person. If I could give one piece of advice to…
Once you start school, you meet more people and experience more events that could possibly impact your life. I have a younger sister and we often compete with grades. This is a very positive impact because it pushes both of us to strive harder to make good grades. Another impact involving school is the transition I had from Lamar Consolidated High School to George Ranch High School when I was in tenth grade. This transition was very rough. The work ethic at George Ranch was way more demanding than it was at Lamar. At first, I thought this was a negative impact because of all of the hard work I had to study more for, but when I actually thought about it I realized that all of this hard work will prepare me for college. Therefore, this impact also turned out to be a positive one. Another important thing that has impacted my life is cheerleading. Though many people may think all cheerleaders do is just chant at football games, it is way more than that. We are required to cheer at many of our school’s sporting events and attend most of the school functions. This sometimes becomes really stressful and challenging, especially when I know that I have a…
I guess what changed my way, was when I moved out of my parents house. It completely changed me, and was a huge step towards my education and work ethic. Once you go out on your own, you have so many more things you have to keep track of, especially for me because I have never really done much work. There are so many things you need to do to maintain a house. It was hard at first but with time it became easier, and easier. It made me want to accomplish better things in life.…
