A SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCE ON ME A person who has a significant influence on me is my mom, Carmen Juarez. My mom has become one of my top role models, although life has been tough on her and has not been exactly the way she would like for it to be, she always makes the best of it. Tough situations are what have made her into the person she is today. For seventeen years now she has taught me many things from learning the basics of life like talking to more in depth things such as respect and how to become an independent woman. My mom has taught me that family and friendship should be valued deeply, that right decisions should be made and to never let someone change you.
Most of the people that have the opportunity of knowing my mom would say the same thing about her, that she is very dedicated to her family. She is caring, kind-hearted and loving. As any other family we have our ups and downs but my mom always wants the best for us and looks for new ways for us to become a better united family.
I observe her day to day sometimes blissful other times thoughtful and solemn, but when it comes to talking to her daughters she always knows how to put on her best smile and words of wisdom. They are days when I watch her as she struggles to get enough to pay the rent and bills, but in the end she always figures everything out to not let us worry. She has taught me to never show my weaknesses to others, that no matter how bad I could feel to always put a smile on my face and give the best of me in everything.
Above all my mother is the person that has influenced me the most also because she has illustrated to me to learn that my opinion matters. She has this saying that motivates me to be myself. Do not be afraid of what others say, and feel free to express your feelings and thoughts of course with a polite and inoffensive manner.
For these many reasons my mom is the person who has had and continues to have a great influence in my life. I am fortunate and blessed to have such an amazing role model that I call mom.

The people that has have influenced me the most are my parents. My parents are always there for me through thick and thin. They have taught me right from wrong and have guided me the right way throughout life. They have influenced me so much. Because of them I am a responsible young adult. I take responsibility for my own actions. They have taught me to care for others. There is a saying they used to always tell me. “Do to others as you would have them to do to you.” This saying is from the bible in chapter Luke 6:31. My parents have also greatly influenced my religious and political views, but I will not go into that. My parents also taught me to treat others equally because everyone has feelings and we are all the same on this inside. I don’t make fun of people or judge them by the way they look or how they act. They have also told me what not to do in life. For example, don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do anything illegal. These things can most of time ruin your life. I am so glad they told and taught me about these things at a young age because if they didn’t I might not…

I have had multiple influential people in my life, but I'm not going to say my parents or a great teacher, but rather someone closer to my age. Andrew Calton, a good friend and great influence. Andrew helped me “get back on my feet” when I was scared to kayak. I would stay on the lake and not go on rivers because I had no confidence in myself. Late at night he and Jack White, another good friend, came to my cabin at camp and told me there was a spot on a trip and he wanted me to go. I went on the trip and the fact that they wanted me to go boosted my confidence. We went on harder rivers I had never been on and I did not swim, or bail out of by boat once.…

A person who has had a significant influence on me in my life would have to be my former foster mother, Miss Barbara Pratt. Ms. Pratt was a foster mother to many children before myself and she had had wonderful success with most of them. I had been in an extremely abusive relatives home before I had been placed in Ms. Pratt’s home. When it was discovered that I was in an abusive home I was first placed in a group home in Cincinnati. Social Services worked very hard to find me a home that would help me adjust to a ‘normal’ life as quickly and easily as possible. They found the home my older sister had been placed in, they contacted Ms. Pratt and I was placed in her care.…

Each person that I have known has taught me something, but a significant amount of what I have learnt and implemented has come from my mom. The fact that my mom has had the greatest influence on me is simply because she is the person who has taught me to be responsible for myself, something which has also helped me to discover who I really am. One person in my life that influences me the most would be my mother. My mom is by far the strongest person I know and she has gone through more struggles than any person should have to. She had to raise me on her own while facing many health issues and did whatever she had to do to give me what I needed. While I was growing up, she did not get to spend as much time with me as she would like because she worked a lot to take care of the bills and she was often in the hospital sick. We also moved around a lot until I was about 12, then we finally owned our first house and stated to spend more time together. Things started to improve from here, until my Grandpa passed away. This affected my mom and I greatly, but especially my mom. She started to become more distant and she stopped working for a while. I tried to make her smile and get back the close relationship we had. After a few months things went back to normal, she was back to the fun, loving woman I knew. Over the last few years my mom has grown to be my best friend, we do everything together, but her health has also been progressively getting worse. Even though she is always sick, she does whatever she can to make me happy. Although I do not always appreciate it, my mom has made many sacrifices for me and has taught me many life lessons. I have learned to be responsible, caring, ambitious, confident, and most importantly strong. She has influenced me to become a better person and to always make the most out of what I have. Because of her I know that I can achieve great things and she has inspired me to be the best person I can…
